Singer and songwriter Asha Naava Zziwa, popularly known as Naava Grey, has opened up about how she avoids conflicts and feuds in the music industry, attributing her peaceful approach to the values instilled in her by her late parents.
The “Ninga Omuloge” singer explained that her parents taught her from childhood to remain calm during conflicts, handle issues privately, and avoid taking personal disagreements to the public.
“First of all, I commend my parents. May God rest their souls in peace. They taught us to be quiet about everything and handle things privately. You don’t need to go out in public and display it there. Carry yourself with respect because we hold so much value as human beings.”
She added that her upbringing was built around peace, discipline, and calmness, which have continued to shape how she conducts herself as an adult and as a musician.
“You find people doing certain things, but I don’t blame them because sometimes it is the way they were brought up. My childhood foundation was really good. It’s all about peace and calmness.”
Naava Grey also revealed that she deliberately keeps her romantic life away from the public, clarifying that the white man she was previously linked to was not her lover but a fellow musician from Berlin.
“Even my lover is private. Everything of mine is private. The white guy the public claimed to be my lover was not my lover. He was just a fellow musician. He was coming from Berlin and I used the opportunity to shoot a video with him.”
The singer further called on parents to embrace some of the traditional approaches to raising children, arguing that the modern way of parenting has, in some cases, contributed to children engaging in behaviours they should not be involved in.
