Yung Mulo is putting his music career on the line, saying he could walk away from the recording studio for good if fans fail to show up in numbers at his upcoming concert.
The dancehall artiste, born Kassim Lubega, made the bold declaration during an appearance on Galaxy TV, where he discussed the impressive turnouts witnessed at recent concerts.
Mulo praised Ugandan music fans for their continued support of local artistes, noting that the crowds at recent shows demonstrate the strength and appetite of the country’s entertainment industry.
However, with his own concert approaching, the singer says he expects the same enthusiasm from fans when he takes the stage on Independence Day.
Mulo appealed to music lovers to come out and fill the venue, warning that anything short of a strong turnout could force him to reconsider his future in the industry.
According to the artiste, a poorly attended concert would be more than just a disappointing night; he would take it as an indication that fans have lost interest in his music and no longer want new material from him.
He consequently vowed to stop recording altogether if the show fails to attract the expected crowd.
“If people do not come out to support me on my show, I promise I will not go back to the studio. I’m not even lying about this. If they do not come through to support me, people will start using me as an example of failed artists. I will not go back to the studio. I will not record again if my concert flops. That will be enough music from me,” he said.
With such a high-stakes promise, Mulo’s Independence Day show could end up being a defining moment in his career. Fans now have the power, at least according to the singer, to determine whether he returns to the studio or calls time on his music journey.
The concert is scheduled to take place at the former Auto Spa venue in Munyonyo.
