President Yoweri Museveni has forgiven former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among and directed that criminal prosecution against her will not continue, according to Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Among had been under house arrest for more than 100 days as security agencies investigated allegations surrounding corruption and the acquisition of wealth.
The development was revealed by Gen. Muhoozi on X after a user, Joshua Kamusiime, asked whether the criminal prosecution against Among would continue.
“Is the criminal prosecution continuing?” Kamusiime asked.
Muhoozi responded: “No. We shall not prosecute AAA. She made mistakes, but Mzee has decided to forgive her.”
The announcement follows Museveni’s earlier directive for Muhoozi to release Among from house arrest, potentially bringing an end to the restrictions she had faced for more than three months.
