Zari Hassan has some blunt advice for anyone who has just started dating: if your new partner quickly starts telling you about their unpaid bills, run.
The South Africa-based Ugandan socialite and businesswoman shared the warning in a TikTok video, listing the kinds of conversations she believes should immediately raise a red flag.
If you have just started dating a girl and the only thing she talks about is her unpaid bills, saying, “I need money for rent,” “I need money for food,” or “My mother is sick,” or asking, “Help me do this” or “Can you chip in?” run. That is a liability. That is a red flag.
Zari questioned why someone would bring their financial problems into a relationship so early.
How have we just met, and you are already telling me about your unpaid bills? If you had not met me, how were you going to survive? If you meet such a woman, baby boy, run as far as you can.
But the warning was not only for men.
Zari said women should also watch out for men who immediately start talking about financial struggles, asking for money or seeking help with their investments.
And this also goes for the females. If you meet a guy who does the same thing, they are already telling you about their problems, asking, “Can you help me with some money?” or saying, “I have an investment that is taking forever to grow,” or “Could you help me?” Listen, you need to run. Well, I did not.
One follower quickly pointed out that Zari had spent the entire video telling people to run, only to admit that she had not followed that advice herself.
She said, “You should run” 😅😅😂, but then she said, “Well, I did not” 😅😅😅 I heard that, Dear Zarinah 😅😅
Zari saw the comment and simply replied, “Shsssss.”
She did not elaborate further, but the exchange added an unexpected twist to what had started as a straightforward warning about dating people who quickly turn a new relationship into a discussion about money.
Zari Hassan is married to Ugandan businessman and corporate boxer Shakib Cham Lutaaya.
