Former Sky Pins director Asiimwe Christian, popularly known as Don Chris, is in police custody after his arrest over allegations of obtaining money by false pretences and fraudulent labour recruitment.
Police say officers arrested Don Chris at around 2 am on August 27, 2026, at a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
The arrest follows allegations that, between 2022 and 2025, he collected money from several people after allegedly promising them jobs abroad.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the promised opportunities included jobs in Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar, and Dubai.
The alleged positions ranged from waiters and cleaners to caregivers, with victims reportedly paying between UGX 5 million and UGX 10 million depending on the job and destination.
But the scale of the case appears to be much bigger.
Police say they have so far recorded statements from more than 500 alleged victims in connection with the investigation.
Don Chris, a former director of the now-defunct labour recruitment company Sky Pins, remains in police custody as investigations continue.
Police say they will produce him before court in accordance with the law.
Authorities have also urged members of the public to verify the licensing and legitimacy of labour recruitment companies and agents before making payments or entering into recruitment arrangements.
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation has been encouraged to report to the nearest police station.
