The man whose voice helped define “Transformers” for more than four decades is gone.
Peter Cullen, the legendary voice actor behind Optimus Prime, has died at the age of 85.
Cullen died peacefully at his Los Angeles home on August 26, surrounded by family. His family has not disclosed the cause of death.
He first voiced Optimus Prime in the original “Transformers” series and continued to play the character for decades, including in the live-action films.
His deep, commanding voice became inseparable from the Autobots’ leader and remained one of the few constants as “Transformers” moved from animation to a global blockbuster franchise.
Cullen also voiced Eeyore in several “Winnie the Pooh” productions, adding another beloved character to his long career.
For “Transformers” fans around the world, however, his name will forever bring back one voice and one character: Optimus Prime.
