Uganda Police has confirmed the arrest of former Sky Pins Tours and Travel director Christian Asiimwe, popularly known as Don Chris, over allegations of obtaining money by false pretences and fraudulent labour recruitment.
According to Police, Don Chris was arrested at approximately 2:00am on August 27, 2026, at a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.
He is currently detained at a Police station as investigations into the allegations continue.
Police say Don Chris allegedly obtained money from several individuals between 2022 and 2025 by falsely claiming that he could secure them employment opportunities in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar and Dubai, among others.
The alleged job placements included positions such as waiters, cleaners and caregivers. However, Police says the clients did not get the promised jobs after making payments.
Police has so far recorded statements from more than 500 alleged victims, who reportedly paid between Shs5 million and Shs10 million depending on their preferred destination and the type of job they sought.
“KMP has arrested Asiimwe Christian (Don Chris), who was the director of Sky Pins Tours and Travel, in connection with allegations of obtaining money by false pretences and fraudulent labour recruitment.”
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court upon completion of the ongoing investigations.
