If you didn’t like me in life, don’t come to my burial – Ragga Dee

Veteran musician Ragga Dee has questioned the practice of people attending the funerals of individuals they allegedly did not like, support, or get along with while they were still alive.

Speaking on a YouTube podcast, Ragga Dee argued that death should not suddenly make people appear emotional or supportive when they failed to show the same feelings during someone’s lifetime.

I will use the music industry as the example, artists become very happy when a fellow musician gets a problem and even come to prove and if you recorded them from the start, you’d find out that they came happy that a bad thing happened to you.

Ragga Dee said he believes people should be honest about their relationships while they are still alive instead of pretending to care when someone dies.

He cited the late veteran filmmaker Alex Mukulu as someone from whom he learned the importance of being bluntly honest with people.

The musician said if you genuinely do not like or respect someone, you should be able to tell them while they are alive rather than waiting until their death to publicly mourn them.

If only God gave our spirits the powers in a way that if that someone you don’t like comes to place a bouquet on your coffin, you hold their tie and squeeze them because you didn’t like me in life, not work with me, stole from me or disrespected me but you should how you’re so touched during my death.

For Ragga Dee, genuine relationships should be built and demonstrated while people are still alive, rather than expressed through dramatic displays of grief after they are gone.
