Kid Fox returns after 16 years in Japan – Sqoop

After spending 16 years away from Uganda, veteran musician Kid Fox is back home, hoping to reopen a chapter of his musical journey.

The singer, who left Uganda for Japan at a time when his career was facing challenges, says his return has been driven largely by a renewed love for music.

“I missed music. I feel I had a debt to repay my fans and I am back to deliver my bit,” Kid Fox said during an interview on KFM’s K-Drive.

His long absence has been a subject of curiosity among fans, with claims that stress and feeling unappreciated by the Ugandan music industry contributed to his decision to leave.

But according to Kid Fox, his return was not as simple as deciding to come home.

Japan offered him an unexpected opportunity to build a new life.

“I got a soft landing in Japan. I had someone who advised me not to come back and was willing to help me,” he explained.

For 16 years, the music industry he once knew continued to transform.

New artists emerged, sounds changed and technology reshaped how musicians create and promote their work.

Yet, despite being thousands of miles away, Kid Fox says his connection to music never disappeared.

“I missed music,” he said.

Now back, the veteran is not simply looking to relive his past.

He wants to contribute to the present music scene and reconnect with his audience.

He is already working on new material.

“I am compiling some new music,” he said.

After 16 years away, he believes he owes his fans one more musical offering, and he has finally come home to deliver it.
