Kid Fox opens up on why he has no wife and kids

Dancehall veteran Kid Fox has revealed a rather unusual chapter of his life after 14 years in Japan, the singer returned home with no wife, no children and, by his own admission, no family of his own to show for the long stint abroad.

The musician, born Steven Kiggundu, disappeared from Uganda’s music radar more than a decade ago when he traded the microphone for life in Japan.

But after years away, Kid Fox is back, and this time he says he has more than music on his mind. One of his first priorities has been to reunite with his mother and relatives he left behind when he packed his bags for Japan.

Speaking to Galaxy TV, the veteran singer opened up about his remarkably private love life, admitting that he has remained a bachelor throughout his years away from home.

“It’s been 14 years. I have come to see my mother. I never left behind any family of my own. I went solo. By the way, that is a mystery. I do not have a child, a wife; I’m like that at my age,” he said.

That revelation may come as a surprise to fans who remember Kid Fox during his heyday, when his dancehall tunes, popularity and celebrity status made him a familiar face among Uganda’s music lovers.

With fame usually comes admirers, and Kid Fox was certainly no stranger to female attention. Yet while some of his contemporaries were getting married and having children, he appears to have taken a completely different route.

The singer says his eyes were firmly fixed on his ambitions, leaving romance somewhere at the bottom of his priority list.

And moving to Japan did not suddenly turn him into a family man.

If anything, Kid Fox says his life there became a cycle of clocking in, working and heading straight home.

“Even there, I didn’t marry. I do not have any children. Life in Japan is just work and going back to your house,” he said.

He also offered his own take on the Japanese dating scene, saying finding a partner was far from easy and that he was unwilling to bend his principles just to get into a relationship.

“Japanese women are not easy unless you opt to go for the spoiled ones; I cannot do this because I have principles,” he added.
