Lionel Richie Undergoes Cardiac Tests in Hospital

American music legend Lionel Richie remains in a St. Louis hospital as doctors carry out cardiac-related tests following his recent concert.

The 77-year-old singer checked himself into the hospital after performing at The Muny in Forest Park on Saturday, August 29. He initially sought medical attention as a precaution, with doctors also looking into possible mild dehydration.

However, the latest update says doctors are now conducting tests for possible cardiac-related issues, and Richie remains in the intensive care unit. He is expected to leave the hospital and fly home on Wednesday, September 2.

Richie’s condition became a concern during the St. Louis performance after he appeared to struggle toward the end of the show.

During his final song, “All Night Long,” he asked his team to bring him a chair and completed the performance while seated.

Another Health Scare for Lionel Richie

The latest hospitalization comes just over two months after Richie experienced another health scare on stage.

During his June 24 concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, Richie told the audience he felt dizzy and strange before sitting down during the performance. He eventually ended the show early and postponed two subsequent concerts on doctors’ advice.

Richie returned to the stage on June 30 and later thanked fans for their support, saying he was doing well.

His next scheduled concert is September 26 in San Francisco with Earth, Wind & Fire, although there has been no announcement that the latest hospital stay has affected that date.
