Tim Curry’s cause of death has finally been revealed following the actor’s peaceful passing at his Los Angeles home.
The “Rocky Horror Picture Show” legend died on August 25 at the age of 80, with records from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health listing coronary artery disease as the cause of death.
The documents also name a history of stroke and kidney cancer as significant contributing conditions. Neither was listed as the underlying cause of death.
The records further show that doctors performed no operations for his coronary artery disease, kidney cancer or history of stroke.
Curry had faced serious health challenges since suffering a major stroke in 2012. The stroke significantly affected his mobility and left him using a wheelchair.
Despite the setback, he continued working, particularly on voiceover projects, during his later years.
The veteran performer became a pop culture icon as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a role that cemented his place in movie history.
He later terrified a generation of viewers as Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s “It.”
His other notable film credits included “Clue,” “Annie,” “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” and “Muppet Treasure Island.”
Curry died peacefully at his Toluca Lake home, closing the chapter on a career that made him one of Hollywood’s most recognisable character performers.
