Sandra Bullock has admitted that even after decades in Hollywood, some red carpets still make her nervous.
The 62-year-old American actress recently revealed that two fellow A-listers make her especially uncomfortable when she has to stand beside them for photos: Nicole Kidman and Zendaya.
Bullock opened up about her red carpet anxiety while appearing on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast as she promotes “Practical Magic 2” with Kidman.
The actress said she realized she was not exactly a natural when it came to posing for photographers after looking back at pictures from the film’s London premiere.
I was like, ‘Why do I have stink face?’ I looked like I smelled something, and I’m like, ‘What happened? That’s not what I was feeling.’
Bullock then turned her attention to Kidman, whom she described in glowing terms.
Nicole is a goddess.
She even joked that she would rather avoid standing next to her at public events.
Can we just remove her from anything that we’re in?
But Kidman is not the only star who leaves Bullock feeling a little intimidated.
The Oscar winner has also admitted that Zendaya’s effortless red carpet presence makes her wish she could borrow some of the younger actress’s style.
During a conversation with Jennifer Aniston for Interview Magazine, Bullock joked:
I want to be Zendaya, but I will never be Zendaya. I am like Zendaya’s shoe polisher. She is glorious.
Bullock also explained that she generally feels more comfortable during interviews than when photographers start calling for poses.
I am actually fine with the interviews. It is the posing.
That confession may come as a surprise from an actress who has spent much of her career walking major Hollywood red carpets.
Bullock and Kidman are currently preparing to return as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens in “Practical Magic 2,” nearly three decades after the original film.
For all her Hollywood experience, Bullock apparently still has one thing in common with plenty of people watching from home: standing next to someone she considers gorgeous can make her forget what to do with her face.
