Ugandan dancehall artist Vyper Ranking has welcomed Kid Fox back to the music scene, but he does not expect the veteran to reclaim his old position anytime soon.
Vyper says Uganda’s dancehall scene has changed dramatically since Kid Fox dominated it, with a new generation of artists now occupying the space he once commanded.
Welcome back, Kid Fox, but everything has changed. Uganda is not the same; we have very many dancehall artists now.
Kid Fox may have been one of the biggest names of his generation, but Vyper believes his past success will not automatically put him back at the top.
Kid Fox was hot in his own time. He was every dancehall artist’s role model and inspiration.
Now comes the hard part.
Vyper believes Kid Fox needs to spend years rebuilding his presence, consistently releasing music and sharpening his craft before he can seriously compete for the top spot again.
Kid Fox has to work and sing for like three years to come back to the top of dancehall.
Vyper also raised concerns about Kid Fox’s stage performance, pointing to his appearance at Lydia Jazmine’s concert as an area that needs attention.
His performance alone at Lydia Jazmine’s concert was a turn-off. His performance needs to be worked on.
The veteran also should not expect the new generation to immediately chase him for collaborations.
Vyper believes the roles have changed, with Kid Fox now needing to approach some of the younger artists and prove what he can still bring to the music.
