Ugandan Hitmakers Are Still Here, But Where Are the Big Songs?

Ugandans have not stopped listening to Azawi, Elijah Kitaka, Omega 256, Ava Peace, Tracy Melon, and Mimi Kampala.

What seems to be missing is that one song that suddenly takes over everything.

These artists have each built a reputation for making records that move quickly from new releases to taxis, clubs, radio, TikTok videos, and everyday conversations.

But that kind of takeover feels less frequent lately.

Azawi remains active and released “Addict” in March 2026, while Ava Peace, Elijah Kitaka and Tracy Melon continue to appear on Ugandan charts and playlists.

The music is there.

The frenzy is what fans seem to miss.

A big song used to need very little time to make its presence felt. DJs picked it up, social media ran with it and before long, everyone knew the hook.

Now, some new releases arrive without creating that same national buzz.

Others have taken their time between major releases, leaving fans waiting for the next record that can change the mood of the entire music scene.

That wait has become part of the conversation.

Ugandans want the songs they cannot escape, the records that follow them into taxis, clubs, phones and weekend parties.

Azawi, Elijah Kitaka, Omega 256, Ava Peace, Tracy Melon and Mimi Kampala have all shown they can make those songs.

Now fans want another one.

The question is simple: who is dropping the next Ugandan banger that takes over the country?
