Afrigo Band to headline Legends and Classic Night – Sqoop

Few names are as closely associated with Uganda’s musical heritage as Afrigo Band, a group whose songs have remained part of the country’s soundtrack across generations.

The legendary band will headline the third edition of Legends and Classic Night at Buffaloes Lounge along Komamboga Road on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Organised by G Power Concepts, the event is expected to bring together fans of Uganda’s older music as the venue continues its series dedicated to classic sounds and established performers.

Afrigo’s participation gives this edition a strong nostalgic appeal, particularly for audiences who grew up listening to the band’s music.

For longtime followers, the attraction will be more than hearing familiar songs played through a sound system. It will be the opportunity to watch the musicians who helped shape Uganda’s popular music perform their repertoire on stage.

Formed in the 1970s, Afrigo Band has remained one of the country’s longest-running musical groups. Its longevity has allowed its music to travel from one generation to another, with some of its older songs continuing to feature in contemporary social and entertainment spaces.

That cross-generational appeal is also part of what makes the band a natural fit for a night built around legends and classics.

While Uganda’s entertainment scene continues to change with new genres, digital platforms and younger performers, classic Ugandan music continues to attract audiences looking for a connection to an earlier era of the country’s cultural life.

Legends and Classic Night taps into that interest by creating a space where older music can be experienced alongside the atmosphere of a contemporary Kampala entertainment venue.

For Afrigo fans, the October 3 performance will offer an opportunity to revisit songs associated with different periods of their lives while introducing the band’s music to younger listeners who may have encountered it through their parents or older generations.

The event will also feature an after-party, with DJs Baby Love, Charlie D and Ben Kilade taking over the decks after the live performance. MCs Esco Star and Bry P will host the night’s entertainment.

Entry has been set at Shs20,000, which includes two beers.

As Kampala’s entertainment calendar fills with new acts and contemporary sounds, the return of Legends and Classic Night highlights the continued place of Uganda’s musical heritage in the city’s nightlife.

And with Afrigo Band taking the stage, the third edition will bring one of the country’s most enduring musical acts back to an audience that has continued to listen across generations.
