Uganda Police Force has confirmed the arrest of 12 students following the circulation of a disturbing video showing a group of teenagers surrounding and brutally assaulting a fellow student, leaving him unconscious.
The video, which made rounds on social media yesterday, sparked widespread concern and outrage among members of the public, with many calling on police to swiftly identify and apprehend those captured in the footage.
Police have now confirmed that all 12 suspects are in custody at Kabalagala Police Station as investigations into the incident continue.
According to a statement issued by police, all the suspects are students currently in Senior One. The prime suspect is aged 16, while the other suspects are reportedly aged between 14 and 17 years.
The suspects were arrested on September 17 and 18, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation conducted in Nakibinge Zone, Kibuli Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
Police said the final arrests were made at approximately 2:00 a.m. on September 18.
The arrests have since been welcomed by members of the public, who commended police for responding swiftly to the viral footage and taking action against the alleged misconduct and violence involving the teenagers.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the assault are ongoing.
