  • M7 BLASTS NSSF, QUESTIONS KENYAN BOND INVESTMENTS! ‘You’ve Been In Slumberland, God is Alive’—President Hails Fund For Waking Up With Marriott Hotel Kampala Deal

M7 BLASTS NSSF, QUESTIONS KENYAN BOND INVESTMENTS! ‘You’ve Been In Slumberland, God is Alive’—President Hails Fund For Waking Up With Marriott Hotel Kampala Deal

KAMPALA — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has taken a swipe at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), accusing the workers’ savings fund of sitting on huge amounts of money while investing in ventures that do little to create jobs or drive Uganda’s economic growth.

Museveni made the remarks on Thursday, August 27, while commissioning the newly opened Kampala Marriott Hotel and Executive Apartments in Nsambya, where he praised NSSF for finally “waking up” after taking a 30 percent stake in the five-star facility.

“I am very glad to hear that NSSF has woken up from slumberland and invested in Marriott. This is very good and God is alive,” Museveni said.

The President, however, challenged the Fund to go beyond investments that generate financial returns and deliberately channel workers’ savings into productive sectors capable of creating jobs and expanding Uganda’s economy.

Museveni questioned the logic of NSSF investing heavily in instruments such as foreign bonds when such investments, in his view, have limited direct impact on Uganda’s employment and production.

“NSSF has got a lot of money. But investing in unclear things… wasting money,” he said, urging the Fund to invest in productive local ventures.

He reminded NSSF that its mandate goes beyond making money from workers’ savings.

“You are a fund of workers. You manage workers’ money. Your job is to increase the number of workers and create more jobs,” Museveni said.

The President challenged the Fund to explain how investments in foreign bonds translate into new jobs for Ugandans.

“How many workers have you added by buying Kenyan bonds and getting interest?” he asked.

‘YOU ARE SITTING ON THAT MONEY’

Museveni’s criticism came as NSSF Managing Director Patrick Ayota revealed that the Fund’s assets had grown to Shs32.8 trillion.

The President said the figure demonstrated the enormous financial muscle at NSSF’s disposal and called for a more aggressive investment strategy.

“You see! They are seated on that money. They make money but in things which don’t solve jobs, don’t add to GDP,” Museveni said.

He congratulated the Fund for its investment in the Marriott, urging it to replicate the approach in other productive sectors.

Museveni said NSSF should increasingly put workers’ savings into investments that contribute directly to Uganda’s economic transformation rather than focusing exclusively on financial returns.

    MARRIOTT OPENS ITS DOORS

The President was speaking at the official commissioning of Kampala’s newest five-star hotel, established by businessman Ponsiano Ngabirano under the Capital Shoppers hospitality group.

The Kampala Marriott features luxury accommodation, executive apartments and conference facilities, expanding Kampala’s capacity to host high-end tourists, international visitors, business travellers and major conferences.

Museveni said the project demonstrated that Ugandan investors can move beyond importing goods and services and instead build high-value businesses within the country.

He challenged local investors to venture into commercial agriculture, manufacturing and artisanship, services, and information and communication technology.

The President cited South Korea’s Samsung and Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote as examples of businesses that moved from trading and importation into large-scale wealth creation.

    GOVERNMENT TARGETS ULTRA-RICH TOURISTS

Ministry of Finance Director of Economic Affairs Moses Kaggwa said the Marriott investment fits into Government’s broader strategy of developing high-end tourism infrastructure.

Kaggwa said Government’s policy is to support branded five-star international-standard hotels capable of attracting high-spending tourists.

He said tourism is one of Uganda’s anchor sectors under the Government’s ATMS strategy, with the country targeting to double both tourist arrivals and the amount of money visitors spend in Uganda.

The new Marriott, he said, therefore forms part of the infrastructure needed to support this ambition.

    MUSEVENI ORDERS TAX, SKILLS SUPPORT

The President also directed Government to enforce the 10-year corporate tax holiday for eligible investors and ordered Finance Minister Henry Musasizi to investigate complaints that taxation is frustrating the hotel and hospitality industry.

He further directed the Ministry of Tourism to scale up training of workers for the hospitality sector through the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute in Jinja, with private institutions complementing Government efforts.

Musasizi said the Marriott project was evidence of Uganda’s growing attractiveness to both local and international investors.

He said major investments in hospitality create jobs, develop skills and expand modern tourism services while demonstrating confidence in Uganda’s economy.

    NGABIRANO THANKS MUSEVENI, NSSF

Ngabirano attributed the investment to what he described as a conducive environment for business and long-term investment.

He praised Museveni for maintaining peace and stability, saying this had enabled investors to commit substantial resources to hospitality, tourism and other sectors.

He also acknowledged the contribution of NSSF and other co-investors while appealing for Government intervention to address challenges affecting the hospitality industry.

Museveni also praised Cardinal Emmanuel Wamala for providing the land on which the hotel was developed, describing the decision as strategically important to the project and Uganda’s hospitality industry.

The opening of Kampala Marriott adds another major five-star facility to the capital’s growing hospitality and conference industry, as Uganda positions itself to attract more high-spending tourists and international business events.

Promoter Nobat: Ray G is the most difficult artist to work with

Events promoter Norbert Twezire, popularly known as Nobat Events, opened up about his experiences working with artists in Uganda’s music industry, revealing some of the challenges he has encountered along the way.

Speaking about the difficult experiences he has faced while dealing with musicians, Nobat Events singled out singer Ray G as the most difficult artist he has ever worked with.

He says Ray G appears calm, humble and easygoing whenever he is in front of the cameras, but allegedly becomes a completely different person once the cameras are switched off.

“Ray G is a very, very hard and difficult person to work with. I was the first person to organize Ray G a big and successful music show in Kampala. On camera, you may think that Ray G is too calm and you can simply pour milk on him and bathe with it, but wait until the cameras are off and he bares his teeth. The guy is a different version of what he portrays on camera. I’ve worked with difficult artists, but he tops the list.”

The promoter also revealed that singer Weasel is the musician he most regrets investing money in, claiming that his experience working with him left him deeply disappointed.

Nobat added that whenever he reflects on the money he invested in Weasel, he sometimes breaks down emotionally and chooses to leave the matter in God’s hands.

“The artist I regret investing my money in is Weasel. Sometimes I sit down and cry, but I leave everything to God.”

  • Sheebah Karungi slams Gloria Bugie for attacking Crysto Panda’s grief

Sheebah Karungi slams Gloria Bugie for attacking Crysto Panda’s grief

Singer Sheebah Karungi has come out in defence of fellow musician Crysto Panda amid his ongoing feud with singer Gloria Bugie, urging the two to stop taking their disagreements to deeply personal levels.

The feud between Panda and Bugie has seen the two musicians exchange harsh words, but tensions escalated after Bugie reportedly brought up Panda’s painful personal experiences, including the loss of his parents and child.

The remarks have since sparked criticism, with Sheebah condemning the use of someone’s greatest losses as a weapon during an argument.

If you are the kind of human being who can use someone’s greatest loss of a mother, a father, or a child as a weapon to attack them, then you are an evil spirit. Whatever differences you two have, you simply don’t do something like that. Fix your heart’s posture young girl. Anti oyagala buto.

Sheebah also revealed that she had personally called Panda and encouraged him to walk away from the confrontation, saying she understood why he was angry and hurt but believed the matter should ultimately be left to God. “I’m so sorry, Panda, that this happened to you. I called you yesterday because I genuinely wanted you to stop cause I know who you are, a decent human being,” she said.

While acknowledging the belief that a man should not fight with a woman, Sheebah argued that this should not mean Panda’s feelings and humanity are disregarded.

A man does not fight with a woman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I understand that. But there is a limit to everything. @crystopanda is a human being too. His humanity doesn’t disappear simply because he is a man. Period. Mwefugge.

  • Meta Plans Two-Hour Daily Limit for Young Facebook and Instagram Users

Meta Plans Two-Hour Daily Limit for Young Facebook and Instagram Users

Meta is facing one of the biggest bills in social media history after agreeing to pay up to $16.68 billion to settle claims that Facebook and Instagram were designed in ways that kept children hooked.

The deal brings a dramatic end to a major legal battle involving U.S. states, which accused Meta of misleading the public about the safety of its platforms and exposing young users to harmful and addictive features.

Meta denies wrongdoing, but the settlement could force major changes to how teenagers use Facebook and Instagram.

The fight was all about young users

At the heart of the case was a simple but explosive accusation: that Meta designed its platforms to keep children and teenagers scrolling.

The states argued that the company knew young people could face harm from excessive social media use but failed to adequately protect them. They also accused Meta of improperly collecting children’s personal data.

Meta pushed back against those allegations and has not admitted wrongdoing.

Still, with the case already in court and the potential financial penalties hanging over the company, Meta chose to settle.

    A midnight cutoff is coming

The agreement is not just about money.

Meta has agreed to introduce stronger protections for users under 18, including stricter age verification, limits on daily use and overnight restrictions.

Under the reported measures, teen accounts could face a two-hour daily usage limit and a block on using the platforms between midnight and 6 am.

That means the settlement could change the way millions of teenagers use Facebook and Instagram.

However, the agreement still requires judicial approval before it takes effect.

Meta avoids an even bigger nightmare

The settlement also spares Meta from a legal battle that could have dragged on for weeks and put some of the company’s biggest names under intense scrutiny.

Instead of waiting to find out how much worse the final bill could become, Meta has agreed to a deal that places a cap on its potential payment while forcing changes to its platforms.

For Meta, the price is enormous.

For Facebook and Instagram’s youngest users, though, the bigger question is whether the new restrictions will actually make a difference.

DON CHRIS FINALLY CAUGHT! Chased Out Of S.Africa, Skypins Boss Arrested Over Shs1.7bn Fake Jobs Scam…500+ Job Seekers Cursing

KAMPALA — The long arm of the law has finally caught up with city socialite Asiimwe Christian, alias Don Chris, the former boss of the defunct Sky Pins Tours and Travel, after he was arrested over allegations of fleecing hundreds of Ugandans in a fake overseas jobs scheme estimated at up to Shs1.75 billion.

Don Chris, who had been on the run since June 2025, was arrested on Wednesday night, August 26, from a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District, according to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala.

Police accuse the suspect of obtaining money by false pretence by promising desperate job seekers lucrative employment abroad in countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar and Dubai.

The promised jobs included positions as waiters, cleaners, caregivers and other low-skilled workers.

But for hundreds of victims, the promised dream of working abroad allegedly turned into a financial nightmare.

Police say they have so far recorded statements from more than 500 alleged victims, with each reportedly paying between Shs5 million and Shs10 million, depending on the destination and type of job promised.

Don Chris is currently in police custody as detectives continue investigating the case. Police said he will be produced before court.

    85 VICTIMS TRIGGERED MANHUNT

The case exploded in June 2025 after at least 85 job seekers petitioned State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Barugahara, complaining that they had lost millions to Sky Pins.

The minister referred the matter to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), triggering a major investigation and a manhunt for Don Chris.

Investigators established that Sky Pins had mounted an aggressive publicity campaign on television, radio and TikTok, drawing job seekers to its offices at Haruna Mall in Ntinda.

Victims were allegedly promised an opportunity to travel abroad on loan after paying half of the required fees upfront.

They were issued company receipts and assured that they would travel within between two and six months.

    But the trips never materialised.

As complaints mounted, the company allegedly disappeared from its Ntinda offices and quietly relocated to Kitende along Entebbe Road, where investigators later found the offices abandoned.

By July 2025, the number of complainants had reportedly increased from 85 to more than 350, with the alleged losses estimated between Shs1.4 billion and Shs1.75 billion.

Some victims also told police they were allegedly threatened when they demanded their money back.

    DON CHRIS FLED UGANDA

With detectives closing in, investigators say Don Chris escaped Uganda on June 20, 2025, crossing through the Malaba border into Kenya before reportedly making his way to South Africa.

He allegedly remained in South Africa for more than a year before quietly returning to Uganda.

Reports indicate that his return followed a surge in xenophobic attacks targeting foreign nationals in South Africa.

After returning, Don Chris reportedly went into hiding around Munyonyo and neighbouring areas, until detectives finally tracked him down at the Zana bar.

    SKYPINS ‘LEGIT’ COVER

Although police investigations described Sky Pins as a fictitious entity, the company had apparently managed to create an appearance of legitimacy that attracted hundreds of job seekers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs previously noted that Sky Pins had at one point facilitated the travel of seven Ugandans to the Netherlands.

Investigators believe the successful trips helped give the company credibility and enabled it to attract even more desperate job seekers.

Police are now appealing to anyone who paid money to Sky Pins Tours and Travel but failed to secure a job or travel abroad to report to the nearest police station.

Detectives have also warned Ugandans to verify the licensing status of labour recruitment companies before handing over money, particularly when promised overseas jobs appear too good to be true.

  • Sheebah Draws the Line on Using Personal Loss as a Weapon

Sheebah Draws the Line on Using Personal Loss as a Weapon

Sheebah Karungi has stepped into the Crysto Panda and Gloria Bugie drama, and she is making it clear that Panda had every reason to feel hurt.

The two musicians started out arguing over music and their careers, but the online feud soon took a much darker turn.

On August 26, Bugie shared a post that hit Panda where it hurt most.

In the now-deleted post, she referenced his being an orphan, the loss of his child, his career struggles and his financial situation, sparking outrage from people who felt some lines should never be crossed.

    Gloria Bugie

Bugie later deleted the post and apologised to her fans, admitting that her remarks had disappointed some of them.

But the fallout was far from over.

Sheebah then revealed that she had personally called Panda and asked him to stop responding.

That call, however, did not mean she thought his anger was unjustified.

    Sheebah Comparisons

I’m so sorry, Panda, that this happened to you. I called you yesterday because I genuinely wanted you to stop because I know who you are, a decent human being. I know you’re angry and hurt, and I understand why, but please leave this woman to God. Some things are better left in His hands.

She then turned to the remarks that had pushed the feud into deeply personal territory.

For her, bringing up the death of someone’s mother, father or child during an argument crosses a line.

If you are the kind of person who can use someone’s greatest loss, the death of a mother, father, or child, as a weapon to attack them, then you need to check your heart. No matter what differences people have, there are lines that should never be crossed.

Sheebah also addressed the argument that a man should not engage in a public fight with a woman.

Panda, she insisted, is still human, and being a man does not make his pain disappear.

And yes, I understand the saying that a man should not fight with a woman. But there is a limit to everything. KING PANDA 👑🎤 is a human being too. His humanity does not disappear simply because he is a man.

And when it came to Panda’s childhood trauma and the loss of his loved ones, Sheebah left little room for debate.

You can disagree with someone, be angry with them, or even be hurt by them, but bringing up their childhood trauma and the loss of their loved ones is simply unacceptable. Decent human beings do not do that. Period.

  • PARLIAMENT ANSWERS CANCER CALL! Speaker Oboth Delivers Sh3bn As Sunday’s Rotary Cancer Run Gains Momentum

PARLIAMENT ANSWERS CANCER CALL! Speaker Oboth Delivers Sh3bn As Sunday’s Rotary Cancer Run Gains Momentum

KAMPALA — Parliament has injected Shs3 billion into the fight against cancer, with Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth leading the institution in fulfilling a major national commitment towards the construction and equipping of the Cancer Treatment Centre at St. Francis Hospital, Nsambya.

The Shs3 billion has been deposited on the Rotary Cancer Run account, taking Parliament’s cumulative contribution to the Rotary cancer cause to Shs10.2 billion over the past 15 years.

The Speaker made the announcement on Thursday, August 27, 2026, during the activation of the 15th Rotary Cancer Run at the Speaker’s Chambers in Parliament.

The Rotary delegation was led by Past District Governor and Uganda Rotary Cancer Run Chairperson, Rotarian Stephen Mwanje.

The activation, organised by Parliament’s Department of Communication and Public Affairs, brought together legislators, parliamentary staff and Rotary leadership, including Wakiso District Woman MP Betty Naluyima and Jinja City Woman MP Sarah Lwansasula.

    OBOTH: CANCER KNOWS NO POLITICS

Speaker Oboth used the occasion to underscore Parliament’s commitment to public health, saying the fight against cancer should remain above political and institutional transitions.

“When I came in as Speaker, I found that my predecessor had pledged money towards the centre,” Oboth said.

“While in politics we do not inherit pledges, the burden of cancer knows no politics. As Parliament, we have picked up this pledge and have accordingly deposited Shs3 billion to the account.”

The statement was met with applause, with the Speaker stressing that Parliament had chosen to honour the commitment because of the devastating impact of cancer on Ugandan families.

Oboth, who is himself a member of the Rotary Club of Kampala Platinum, also demonstrated personal commitment by purchasing 300 Rotary Cancer Run kits and challenging MPs to mobilise their constituents to participate in the nationwide campaign.

“I call upon colleague MPs to do the same, lead the entire population in their constituencies, and together we battle this burden,” he said.

‘THIS IS A CALL TO SAVE LIVES’

Oboth said the cancer burden requires a collective national response involving Government, Parliament, the private sector, civil society and ordinary citizens.

He cited 2026 Global Cancer Observatory figures showing that Uganda records approximately 29,966 new cancer cases and 18,205 cancer deaths annually, while more than 59,662 people are living with a cancer diagnosis made within the previous five years.

The Speaker said the Rotary Cancer Run theme, “Gwanga Mujje” — “Nation Arise”, should therefore be viewed as more than a sporting event.

“The message of ‘Gwanga Mujje’ — ‘Nation Arise’ — is a powerful call to action,” Oboth said.

“It calls upon Government, Parliament, the private sector, civil society, and every Ugandan to arise and confront cancer as a national challenge. This is not simply a call to run; it is a call to save lives.”

He further challenged policymakers to look beyond the construction of cancer facilities and focus on equipping them with modern technology.

According to Oboth, Parliament’s responsibility includes supporting the acquisition of advanced radiotherapy equipment, including Linear Accelerator machines, to ensure Ugandans benefit from modern cancer treatment within the country.

“Our role as Parliament goes beyond financial support,” he said. “We must provide leadership, strengthen oversight, support appropriate legislation, and ensure that national resources respond to the health needs of our people.”

Speaker Oboth addresses the Cancer Run team

    PARLIAMENT’S CONTRIBUTION HITS SHS10.2BN

Receiving the Shs3 billion contribution, Mwanje thanked Parliament for what he described as its sustained support for the Rotary Cancer Run over the past 15 years.

Mwanje revealed that Parliament had previously contributed Shs7.2 billion, meaning Thursday’s contribution pushes its total contribution to Shs10.2 billion.

He said Parliament’s support had played a major role in the Rotary cancer campaign, which has already delivered tangible infrastructure at Nsambya Hospital.

The previous campaign raised about Shs3 billion to construct a 36-bed cancer ward at the hospital.

However, Mwanje said Rotary’s current priority has shifted towards tackling Uganda’s shortage of radiotherapy equipment.

“Global statistics indicate that there should be a radiotherapy machine for every one million people,” Mwanje said.

“In Uganda, we only have three for almost 50 million people. This is a crisis.”

Rotary is now targeting Shs6 billion under a broader strategy aimed at completing radiation bunkers by 2027 and installing Linear Accelerators and other specialised health equipment by 2028.

OBOTH CALLS ON UGANDANS TO RUN

The 15th edition of the Rotary Cancer Run is scheduled for Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The run will simultaneously take place in 62 towns and cities across Uganda, as well as in countries where Uganda maintains embassies or consulates.

Speaker Oboth called on Ugandans to turn up in large numbers and support the campaign.

“To every Ugandan, come and be part of the Run. Let us run for those fighting cancer. Let us run for those who have survived. And let us run in memory of those we have lost,” he said.

“And let us run for a healthier Uganda.”

Don Chris Arrested Over Alleged Fraudulent Labour Recruitment

Former Sky Pins director Asiimwe Christian, popularly known as Don Chris, is in police custody after his arrest over allegations of obtaining money by false pretences and fraudulent labour recruitment.

Police say officers arrested Don Chris at around 2 am on August 27, 2026, at a bar in Zana, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District.

The arrest follows allegations that, between 2022 and 2025, he collected money from several people after allegedly promising them jobs abroad.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the promised opportunities included jobs in Canada, the United Kingdom, Qatar, and Dubai.

The alleged positions ranged from waiters and cleaners to caregivers, with victims reportedly paying between UGX 5 million and UGX 10 million depending on the job and destination.

But the scale of the case appears to be much bigger.

Police say they have so far recorded statements from more than 500 alleged victims in connection with the investigation.

Don Chris, a former director of the now-defunct labour recruitment company Sky Pins, remains in police custody as investigations continue.

Police say they will produce him before court in accordance with the law.

Authorities have also urged members of the public to verify the licensing and legitimacy of labour recruitment companies and agents before making payments or entering into recruitment arrangements.

Anyone with information that could assist the investigation has been encouraged to report to the nearest police station.

  • CHURCH GIVING GOES CASHLESS! MTN MoMo Unveils New Digital Giving Menu For Tithes, Offertory, Zakat, Sadaqah, Thanksgiving, Donations

CHURCH GIVING GOES CASHLESS! MTN MoMo Unveils New Digital Giving Menu For Tithes, Offertory, Zakat, Sadaqah, Thanksgiving, Donations

MTN Mobile Money Uganda has launched the MTN MoMo Faith-Based Digital Giving Campaign, an initiative aimed at encouraging secure, convenient and transparent digital giving while supporting faith-based institutions to manage contributions more effectively.

At the heart of the campaign is the new MTN MoMo Faith-Based Menu, *165*11#, a dedicated giving journey developed in response to feedback from faith-based institutions seeking a more customised alternative to the previous generic option.

Previously, worshippers were makin contributions through the general giving journey on *165*3#. The new men, however, enables them to select their faith-based institution and choose the specific purpose of their contribution before completing the transaction. Options include tithes, offertory, zakat, sadaqah, thanksgiving, donations, fundraising and project support. The same journey is also available through the MTN MoMo App.

The campaign responds to the changing way people live and give. Worshippers can contribute securely from wherever they are, whether travelling, working away from home or unable to attend a service physically. It also offers a private option for those who prefer to give discreetly, while the journey is zero-rated for the worshipper.

For institutions, the menu provides an itemised view of contributions, helping treasurers and administrators improve visibility, simplify reconciliation and strengthen reporting and financial management. This supports greater transparency, accountability and financial stewardship in managing the contributions entrusted to them.

Speaking at the launch, Wednesday, 26th August in Kampala, Phrase Lubega, Managing Director, MTN MoMo Uganda Ltd, said the campaign reflects MTN MoMo’s approach to developing digital solutions around the practical needs of communities and institutions.

“We are not simply introducing a new payment option. We are responding to the changing needs of faith communities and making it easier for people to support the institutions and causes that matter to them. The new Faith-Based Menu was developed following feedback from institutions that wanted a more customised giving journey and greater clarity around the contributions they receive.”

    MTN MoMo MD Phrase Lubega

Lubega said the dedicated menu creates a clearer experience for both the giver and the receiving institution.

“Through *165*11#, a worshipper can select an institution and identify what they are giving towards before completing the contribution. This brings greater convenience to the worshipper while giving institutions better tools to track and manage collections. At the centre of this is trust, because effective financial stewardship is essential to maintaining the confidence of congregants.”

The Faith-Based Digital Giving Campaign builds on MTN MoMo’s wider experience in digitising collections across different sectors, including education, and reflects its commitment to using digital technology to address specific everyday needs.

Faith-based institutions interested in joining the campaign and onboarding onto the Faith-Based Menu can contact the MTN MoMo team at faithgivingbymomo.ug@mtn.com.

Worshippers can access the giving journey by dialling *165*11# or using the MTN MoMo App, then selecting their institution, choosing the purpose of their contribution and completing the transaction.

Through the campaign, MTN MoMo aims to make giving more accessible to worshippers while helping faith-based institutions strengthen the systems that support responsible management of contributions.

Present at the launch were representatives from different religious institutions.

Welcoming the innovation, Idi Kasozi, Imam, Masjid Mawanga & Lecturer, Islamic University in Uganda said: “Previously, we faced challenges with the existing MoMo payment methods, particularly where transaction thresholds made it difficult for people to contribute smaller amounts. This new solution addresses that challenge. It is reliable and promotes greater transparency in the giving process. Importantly, it can also help reduce temptation by ensuring that contributions are properly accounted for.”

For Fiona Nantume, Accountant, Namirembe Cathedral: “Previously, when someone made a contribution, we often had to call them to find out exactly what the money was intended for, whether it was tithe, offertory or another form of giving. With the new itemised menu, that information is captured at the point of giving, making it much easier for us to identify, track and account for each contribution. It is a simple but very helpful solution.”

Paulson Tumutegyereize, Reverend, All Saints Cathedral added: “I love the fact that this platform is convenient for both givers and institutions. Given the widespread reach of MTN MoMo, we believe it has the potential to reach people wherever they are and make giving much easier.”

“Previously, it was difficult to clearly distinguish between different types of contributions, such as offertory and tithe. We appreciate the introduction of these categories because they will make it easier for institutions to track and account for the different forms of giving. We thank MTN MoMo for this initiative and look forward to working together,” said Sylvia Namata, Chief Finance Officer, Phaneroo Ministries International.

Ronald Ojilong, Digital Communications Head, Radio Africa- Mbuya, concluded thus:“We appreciate MTN MoMo for recognising the important role that faith-based institutions play in our communities and for introducing this Digital Giving solution. The initiative will make giving more convenient and transparent, while also strengthening security and accountability. However, technology alone is not enough. The success of this initiative will depend on how well faith-based organisations are supported to adopt and effectively use the platform.”
