Fans worry for D Star after second health scare on stage in recent months

Ugandan artist D Star, popularly known as Hoozambe, needed assistance to walk off the stage at the Cephco-organized Ekiki Gwe concert at Power King Bar in Kasubi after his performance on Sunday night.

In May, D Star did not complete his performance at the Galaxy FM Zzina Carnival Forest Park Resort Buloba, Kampala, after experiencing discomfort in his stomach. He walked off the stage, requiring support from his team, and visibly, he did not look fine at all.

Something similar happened to him on Sunday night at Power King Bar and Restaurant in Kasubi at the Ekiki Gwe concert organised by TikTok star Cephco.

The artist known for songs like Shifura (Hoozambe), Jane, and Envunza Ento finished his performance in a very weak state and had to be escorted off the stage holding his stomach.

The video that has been shared online has worried his fans and followers, who have urged a solution to the recurring issue to be found, or they risk losing their star.

The artist is yet to address the cause of the pain.

  • Why You Should Never Return to Your Ex: Choosing Growth Over Familiar Pain

Why You Should Never Return to Your Ex: Choosing Growth Over Familiar Pain

The end of a relationship is rarely easy. Whether it ended because of betrayal, constant disagreements, different priorities, or simply growing apart, the emotional attachment can make moving on feel almost impossible. In moments of loneliness, it is tempting to look back and consider returning to an ex, especially when memories of the good times overshadow the reasons why the relationship ended.

However, going back to an ex is often a step backward rather than forward. While every situation is unique, there are important reasons why returning to a former partner may prevent you from finding the happiness and growth you deserve.

    1. The reasons for the breakup have not magically disappeared

One of the biggest mistakes people make is believing that time alone has changed everything. If the issues that caused the breakup — lack of trust, poor communication, disrespect, dishonesty, or incompatible goals — have not been genuinely addressed, returning to the same relationship may only reopen old wounds.
A reunion without real change often becomes a repeat of the same cycle.

    2. You may be missing the memories, not the person

After a breakup, it is natural to remember the laughter, special moments, and comfort you shared. But sometimes, what you miss is not the person themselves — you miss the feeling of being loved, having companionship, or having someone familiar beside you.
It is important to separate nostalgia from reality. The relationship you remember may not be the relationship that existed.

    3. Returning can delay your personal growth

A breakup, though painful, can be an opportunity for self-discovery. It allows you to reflect, heal, develop confidence, and understand what you truly want in a partner.
Going back too quickly can interrupt that growth. Instead of becoming a better version of yourself, you may return to old habits and patterns that kept you unhappy.

    4. Trust is difficult to rebuild

If trust was broken in the relationship, restoring it requires time, commitment, and consistent effort from both people. Simply saying “let’s start again” does not erase past hurt.
Many couples who reunite find themselves constantly revisiting old arguments, questioning each other’s actions, or living with unresolved resentment.

    5. You deserve a relationship that moves forward, not one that keeps looking back
Healthy relationships are built on mutual respect, shared values, emotional safety, and a willingness to grow together. If a relationship has already shown you that it cannot provide these things, returning may keep you stuck in a chapter that was meant to end.
Moving on creates space for new opportunities, new connections, and a healthier future.

    6. Loneliness is not a reason to return

One of the most common reasons people return to an ex is loneliness. But being alone is not the same as being unhappy. Sometimes temporary loneliness is the price of creating a better future.
A familiar relationship may feel comfortable, but comfort does not always mean it is good for you.

    7. Protect your peace

Your emotional well-being matters. A relationship should bring support, encouragement, and stability — not constant anxiety, pain, and uncertainty.
Sometimes the strongest decision you can make is accepting that someone was an important part of your past but is not meant to be part of your future.

    Conclusion

Not every ex is meant to be forgotten, and not every reunion is impossible. Some people genuinely change, heal, and rebuild stronger relationships. However, returning to someone simply because you miss them, feel lonely, or fear starting over can lead you back to the same pain you worked hard to escape.

Sometimes closure is not found in another conversation or another chance. Sometimes closure comes from accepting that the relationship served its purpose, learning from it, and choosing yourself.
The right person for your future will not require you to sacrifice your peace to keep them in your life.

  • Usher Responds After Fans Claim a Clone Performed at His Concert

Usher Responds After Fans Claim a Clone Performed at His Concert

Usher has laughed off a bizarre internet theory claiming that he sent a lookalike to perform in his place during a recent concert.

The speculation began after his August 7 show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, where he performed as part of the Raymond & Brown Tour with Chris Brown.

Videos from the concert quickly sent some fans into detective mode.

They questioned the performer’s appearance and pointed to differences they believed they could see in his face, movements and tattoos.

Before long, a simple debate over Usher’s appearance turned into something much stranger, with some social media users suggesting that a clone or body double had taken over the stage.

Usher eventually saw the claims and decided to play along rather than give the theory a serious response.

Y’all are funny… clone? They can’t clone this??

The singer then took another swipe at the idea, telling fans that “AI ain’t that advanced.”

There is no evidence that Usher used a body double or clone during the performance.

The bizarre speculation has nevertheless given his tour another viral moment, with concert footage continuing to fuel debate across social media.

Usher and Chris Brown are currently travelling across North America for the Raymond & Brown Tour, which is scheduled to continue through December.

  • BABIRYE MWAJUMAH: Building Inclusive Opportunities for Young People in Africa and the Arab World

BABIRYE MWAJUMAH: Building Inclusive Opportunities for Young People in Africa and the Arab World

As the world commemorates International Youth Day, we are reminded that young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also active contributors to today’s progress. Across Africa and the Arab World, millions of young women and men possess the creativity, energy and determination required to transform their communities and drive sustainable development. However, many continue to face barriers that limit their ability to fully realise their potential. Creating inclusive opportunities is therefore not only a development priority but also a shared responsibility.

Inclusive opportunities mean ensuring that every young person, regardless of gender, disability, social background, religion or geographical location, has access to quality education, decent employment, leadership platforms, entrepreneurship support, digital innovation opportunities and meaningful participation in decision-making processes. No young person should be left behind due to circumstances beyond their control.

Africa and the Arab World are home to some of the youngest populations globally, presenting a tremendous opportunity to accelerate economic growth, innovation and social progress. However, this potential can only be realised when young people are equipped with the right skills, resources and supportive environments. Governments, civil society organisations, development partners, educational institutions and the private sector all have a critical role to play in creating pathways that enable young people to succeed.

At the Afro-Arab Youth Council, we believe that youth empowerment goes beyond simply creating opportunities. It requires building an environment where young people are confident, equipped and supported to contribute meaningfully to addressing the challenges facing their communities. Through leadership development, skills enhancement, peacebuilding initiatives, entrepreneurship, cultural exchange and community engagement, young people become agents of positive change and key drivers of stronger cooperation between Africa and the Arab World.

Equally important is the need to strengthen partnerships that bridge borders and promote knowledge exchange. Young innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and community leaders from both regions have valuable experiences and ideas to share. By encouraging collaboration and dialogue, we can enhance mutual understanding, promote innovation and develop solutions to shared challenges, including unemployment, climate change, inequality and social exclusion.

As we celebrate International Youth Day, the occasion should inspire all stakeholders to invest in young people with commitment, purpose and action. Policies must translate into tangible opportunities, young voices must be recognised and platforms for participation must be accessible to all. When young people are empowered to fully engage in society, communities become stronger, economies become more resilient and peace becomes more sustainable.

The future of Africa and the Arab World will be shaped by the opportunities we create for young people today. By building inclusive opportunities, we are not only empowering the current generation but also laying the foundation for a more prosperous, peaceful and united future for generations to come.

  • “No One Claps for a Man Until He Is Rich” — Bruno K

“No One Claps for a Man Until He Is Rich” — Bruno K

What happens to a man when he has nothing to show for his struggles?

According to Bruno K, society often expects him to keep pushing without offering much sympathy until he finally makes it.

The singer, whose real name is Bruno Kiggundu, shared the thoughts in a post on X, where he compared the expectations placed on men and women when it comes to love, money and success.

    bruno k grief

A broke woman can still dream of a prince while a broke man cannot even dream of love. That is how unfair life gets.

Bruno K argues that financial struggles can make dating especially difficult for men because society often links a man’s attractiveness to his ability to provide.

That pressure, he suggests, extends beyond relationships.

A struggling man may also find it difficult to receive emotional support because people expect him to stay strong and figure things out on his own.

    bruno k grief

Men do not get sympathy. They get silence. No one asks, ‘Are you okay?’ unless you are already winning.

Then comes what may be his sharpest observation about dating.

Most women attract by beauty, men attract by their value. No one claps for a man until he is rich.

The comments have opened up a familiar debate about money, attraction and the expectations men face as they try to build their lives.

For some, financial stability naturally matters in relationships.

For others, Bruno K’s argument raises a bigger question about whether society has become too quick to measure a man’s worth by his income, achievements and ability to provide.

Either way, his message puts the spotlight on a pressure many men rarely discuss openly: the feeling that they must succeed first before anyone notices that they are struggling.

  • The Bamboo Principle: Why patience is the hidden currency of success

The Bamboo Principle: Why patience is the hidden currency of success

    By Michael Jjingo

In today’s fast-moving world, patience has become one of the most underrated business virtues. Many young entrepreneurs begin businesses expecting immediate profits, quick recognition, and rapid expansion. When results delay, discouragement enters, focus weakens, and many abandon potentially successful ventures too early. Yet history repeatedly proves that sustainable businesses are not built overnight. They are built slowly, carefully, and consistently over time.

Business growth resembles the growth of bamboo. For several years after planting, bamboo shows almost no visible progress above the ground. To many people, it appears as though nothing is happening. However, beneath the surface, roots are quietly spreading and strengthening. Then eventually, after years of silent preparation, the bamboo rises rapidly. In the same way, businesses require invisible seasons of preparation before visible success appears.

The challenge with modern culture is that it glorifies speed more than endurance. Social media constantly presents images of sudden wealth, luxurious lifestyles, and “overnight success” stories. Unfortunately, many of these stories hide years of sacrifice, rejection, discipline, and perseverance. Real business success is usually less dramatic and more repetitive. It is built through daily effort, consistent learning, and patient improvement.

In Built to last, Jim Collins wrote, “Greatness is not a function of circumstance. Greatness, it turns out, is largely a matter of conscious choice and discipline.” That statement captures the reality of business growth. Great companies survive because they focus on foundations rather than temporary excitement. Reputation, customer loyalty, operational systems, and market trust all require time to mature.

One of the greatest misunderstandings among entrepreneurs is believing that business success depends only on money or intelligence. In reality, the entrepreneur’s personal life strongly influences business performance. A disorganized life eventually produces disorganized business decisions. A restless mind weakens judgment. Poor health reduces productivity. Lack of discipline destroys consistency.

This is why successful entrepreneurship begins with personal discipline. Daily habits shape long-term outcomes. In Atomic Habits, James Clear observed, “Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.” Success is therefore not merely an event; it is the accumulation of disciplined routines practiced consistently over time.

A balanced daily routine helps entrepreneurs remain productive, focused, and emotionally stable. Beginning the day with prayer and reflection creates mental clarity and spiritual grounding. Prayer provides direction, calmness, and purpose before engaging with the pressures of business. Reflection allows individuals to evaluate priorities and correct mistakes before they become costly.

Physical exercise is equally important. Regular walking, running, stretching, or gym activity improves both physical and mental strength. Many successful leaders understand that the body is an important business asset. A healthy entrepreneur often possesses greater energy, sharper concentration, and stronger emotional resilience during difficult business periods.

Reading also plays a major role in long-term success. Books expose entrepreneurs to new ideas, strategies, and wisdom accumulated over generations. In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill observed, “Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” This quotation remains one of the clearest reminders that lasting achievement demands endurance and consistency.

Equally powerful is Stephen Covey’s statement in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: “The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” Entrepreneurs who structure their days around purpose, discipline, and meaningful activities usually achieve more sustainable growth than those who operate without order.

Beyond personal growth, entrepreneurs must also understand the importance of trust. Trust is one of the most valuable forms of capital in business. Customers return where honesty exists. Investors support individuals with credibility. Employees remain loyal to leaders they trust. Yet trust cannot be rushed. It develops slowly through consistent integrity and responsible conduct.

In The Speed of Trust, Stephen Covey explains, “Trust is the glue of life. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” In business, trust reduces friction, strengthens partnerships, and creates long-term loyalty that competitors often struggle to break.

Rest is another frequently ignored aspect of entrepreneurship. Many people wrongly associate exhaustion with productivity. However, continuous stress without recovery eventually weakens creativity, emotional balance, and decision-making ability. Proper sleep, quiet moments of reflection, and time with family help entrepreneurs maintain long-term stability and inner peace.

Perhaps the greatest lesson in business is understanding that growth often happens quietly before it becomes visible publicly. Systems mature gradually. Relationships deepen slowly. Skills improve through repetition. Reputation develops through years of consistent conduct.

In conclusion, a farmer does not plant seeds today and expect harvest tomorrow. In the same way, entrepreneurs must resist the temptation of impatience. Businesses require watering every day through discipline, prayer, reflection, learning, service, integrity, and perseverance. Eventually, results appear. And when success finally becomes visible, many people will call it “overnight success,” without realizing that the roots were being built patiently for years beneath the surface.

  • NSIMBE SHAFIK: Digital Skills — The New Currency for Youth Success

NSIMBE SHAFIK: Digital Skills — The New Currency for Youth Success

As the world commemorates International Youth Day 2026 under the theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” one reality continues to unite young people across the globe: the need for opportunities that enable them to thrive in an increasingly digital world.

Despite differences in geography, culture, and circumstances, young people share common aspirations — to build meaningful careers, develop innovative solutions, and contribute positively to the growth of their communities. Achieving these aspirations requires access to one critical resource: digital skills.

Today, digital skills have become the new currency for success. Just as financial resources enable participation in the economy, digital literacy creates pathways to education, employment, entrepreneurship, and global collaboration. Skills such as coding, graphic design, digital marketing, data analysis, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and online communication are transforming how young people learn, work, and lead.

Technology is no longer confined to the information and communications technology sector. Across agriculture, healthcare, education, finance, manufacturing, and public service delivery, digital solutions are improving efficiency, expanding access, and creating new opportunities. Young people who acquire digital skills are better positioned to compete in the modern job market, establish businesses, address community challenges, and adapt to the evolving world of work.

However, the benefits of the digital revolution are not yet equally accessible to all young people. Millions continue to face barriers, including limited internet connectivity, inadequate training opportunities, and lack of access to digital devices. Addressing this digital divide requires coordinated efforts from governments, educational institutions, private sector partners, civil society organizations, and communities.

Every young person, regardless of their background or location, deserves the opportunity to gain the skills necessary to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.

The Afro Arab Youth Council (AAYC) recognizes that empowering young people with digital knowledge is fundamental to sustainable development. Through youth leadership, capacity-building programmes, innovation initiatives, and skills development, the Council continues to create platforms that enable young people to learn, collaborate, and unlock their potential.

Investing in digital empowerment today means preparing a generation capable of driving economic growth, advancing innovation, promoting peace, and developing solutions to tomorrow’s challenges.

As we celebrate International Youth Day 2026, we must encourage young people to embrace lifelong learning and view technology not merely as a source of entertainment, but as a powerful tool for transformation and progress. Every digital skill gained is an investment in a more inclusive and prosperous future.

The future belongs to those who are ready to innovate, adapt, and lead. In a world increasingly shaped by technology, digital skills are more than qualifications — they are the new currency for youth success.

Together, we must ensure that no young person is left behind in the digital age.

Posha UG questions MC Kacheche after being barred from performing at Ray G’s concert

Despite preparing through rehearsals to perform at Ray G’s concert at Kololo Airstrip, Posha UG was not allowed to step on the stage and showcase, something she

Posha UG, who claims to have arrived at the venue as early as 6 PM, states that she invested a lot of time and money rehearsing for the event and was even included in the artwork for the day’s performers.

    Posha UG

However, she spent most of the evening watching other artists take to the stage, awaiting her chance to perform that never eventually arrived.

In a video she shared on her Instagram page, Posha UG, known for songs such as EnshongaMassape, and Enshazi (feat. Bruno K), questioned why she wasn’t given the opportunity.

She mentioned emcees like Kacheche and Councillor Amon for denying her a chance to step on the stage despite being cooperative, something she states was happening for the second time.

She expressed how embarrassed and ashamed she was, heading back home frustrated.

MC Kacheche and Councillor Amon, if every other artist that came performed, why didn’t I get the chance to perform? Why did you deny me that stage?

It is the second time it is happening, and I was so ashamed, humiliated, and embarrassed. I felt like I wasn’t supposed to be there. Stop doing such things to us.

Emcees have taken over shows in Mbarara, but if you can do the shows on your own, why do you invite us to perform? It was so unfair. Why would an emcee get 40 minutes on stage and an artist not perform?

  • UPDF begins third phase of 2026 recruitment exercise: Here’s What You Need to Know

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has started the third phase of its 2026 recruitment exercise, with shortlisted candidates undergoing physical fitness tests and medical examinations across the country.

The exercise is also aimed at verifying candidates’ academic and personal documents as the force moves closer to selecting those who will join the military.

The candidates taking part in this phase were shortlisted following an online application process conducted earlier this year. They include applicants seeking to join both the regular forces and specialised professional units.

According to the UPDF, the recruitment drive is intended to strengthen the force’s operational capacity while filling critical positions in technical, medical, legal and administrative areas.

Unlike previous recruitment exercises that largely focused on ordinary military recruits, the 2026 intake also targets Ugandans with professional skills that can support different sections of the UPDF.

Professionals in fields including education, healthcare, aviation, engineering, law, sports and music are among those being considered for specialised positions.

The UPDF said the exercise also provides eligible Ugandans with an opportunity to pursue careers in the military while contributing their skills to national service.

Candidates taking part in the ongoing phase are drawn from districts across the country as the recruitment exercise continues nationwide.

Sheilah Gashumba says she has never smoked or used drugs despite nightlife career – Sqoop

Media personality and nightlife host Sheilah Gashumba has dismissed assumptions that working in Uganda’s entertainment scene means she smokes or uses drugs, saying she has never been interested in either.

Speaking during an interview on Kasuku Live, Gashumba revealed that despite spending years hosting events and working as a nightlife ambassador, she has deliberately stayed away from smoking and other intoxicants.

She said one of the biggest reasons she avoids shisha is hygiene.

According to Gashumba, the condition of some shisha attendants at entertainment venues has completely put her off the practice.

“The people serving are usually very dirty and wear black, yet the heat is coming in the T-shirts and they don’t wash them. They smell so bad,” she said.

She added that watching attendants move from one customer to another carrying the same shisha equipment has only reinforced her decision not to smoke it.

Although she regularly works in clubs and bars where shisha is popular, Gashumba said she has never felt pressured to join in.

Her comments challenge the perception that everyone associated with Kampala’s nightlife indulges in smoking or drug use, insisting that it is possible to enjoy the entertainment scene without taking part in those habits.
