  • Sheilah Gashumba speaks out after radio presenter allegedly spreads false claims about her private life – Sqoop

Sheilah Gashumba speaks out after radio presenter allegedly spreads false claims about her private life – Sqoop

Media personality Sheilah Gashumba has broken her silence after what she described as a distressing day of battling false information about her private life, following claims made by NRG Radio presenter Evelyn Mic, who appeared convinced of the information she was sharing on air.

In a series of emotional posts shared on her Snapchat account, Gashumba said she was forced to do something she rarely does, making calls to media personalities and bloggers to have the alleged false reports taken down.

ā€œI’m not usually the person who clears anything about myself and it’s so sad I woke up to something very disturbing and full of lies!! I’ve never had to call any radio station or a blogger to have my name cleared like I did today,ā€ she wrote.

The socialite said the situation left her heartbroken, adding that it was the first time she had personally reached out to have a story removed.

ā€œI’ve been in this space and I’ve never called any blogger or radio to delete a false video or story of me and today was my first,ā€ she said.

Describing the incident as an attack fueled by ā€œbad energy,ā€ Gashumba said she could not understand why people would deliberately spread falsehoods about her.

ā€œI can’t even explain how I feel about all these lies and madness! At this point, there is just so much bad energy and evil moving around us, only prayers can help,ā€ she wrote.

She added that although the video was eventually taken down, it had already been downloaded and circulated by other social media users, making it difficult to completely erase.

ā€œEven after making calls till the video was deleted, some people had already downloaded and sent themselves the false story and that can’t even be erased!! Please disregard that information!ā€ she said.

Gashumba also addressed speculation about her love life, revealing that she has been in a relationship for the past year and deliberately chose to keep it away from the public eye.

ā€œI’m in the space in my life where I’m fully contented! I’m not searching for anyone, not talking or seeing anyone apart from the person I’ve been seeing for a year now. The reason I’ve kept it private and not on social media is because I’ve been trying to protect something that is very special to me,ā€ she wrote.

She concluded by appealing to the public to respect her privacy and wish her well instead of spreading rumours.

ā€œPlease let’s respect that. Even if you have always wished me bad, I’m begging you to leave this special person and moment in life and at least wish me luck. I’m so gutted.ā€

While Gashumba did not directly name the presenter in her posts, the remarks came after comments made by Evelyn Mic onĀ NRG Radio. Evelyn has not publicly responded to Gashumba’s statement at the time of publication.

  • Garbage Trucks to be Deployed on National Cleaning Days

Garbage Trucks to be Deployed on National Cleaning Days

Garbage collection trucks will be deployed across the country ahead of the next national cleaning day to improve waste collection and ensure proper sanitation.

The Government Chief Whip, Hon. Ruth Aceng made the revelation while responding to concerns raised by Kampala District Woman Representative, Hon. Shamim Malende over poor waste management following the inaugural national cleaning day that was held countrywide on Saturday, 25 July 2026.

During the plenary sitting held on Tuesday, 04 August 2026, Malende said uncollected garbage within Kampala and its surrounding areas is a serious threat to public health and presented environmental risks.

ā€œWhile the initiative was intended to improve sanitation and public health, the collected waste has remained on the roadsides of Kampala and in the communities of Lubaga, Kawempe, Makindye, Central and Nakawa,ā€ Malende said.

She called for a clear garbage collection plan, to ensure better success of the forthcoming national cleaning day that will take place on Saturday, 29 August 2026.

ā€œI would like the line minister to inform us of the long-term measures which government is putting in place to ensure that future national cleaning exercises are followed by timely waste collection, transportation and disposal,ā€ Malende added.

Aceng acknowledged that the intensity of the initial programme revealed gaps that will be addressed in future.

ā€œWe take note that the first activity clearly showed that we are overwhelmed. However, this morning, this issue has been largely addressed. KCCA is still moving around collecting waste. In future, we will have more trucks all over the country because it is a national activity,ā€ Aceng told the House.

She added government is seeking partnerships to improve the viability of the activity.

ā€œWe want to promise you that with serious sensitisation, it will be better done and there will be no garbage left around,ā€ Aceng added.

The initiative is expected to run from 7am to 10am on every last Saturday of the month, with a goal of improving sanitation, preventing disease, protecting the environment and promoting a lasting culture of civic responsibility.

  • Najjera man remanded for allegedly masquerading as lawyer and representing client in court

A man accused of masquerading as a lawyer and representing a client in court without the legal qualifications has been remanded to Luzira Prison after appearing before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Andrew Nsubuga Sekibaamu Jenkins, 28, a resident of Najjera in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, appeared before Senior Magistrate Winnie Nankya Jatiko on Tuesday, where he was charged with two offences related to the illegal practice of law.

Prosecutors allege that between February and December 2025, Nsubuga unlawfully acted as an advocate for Nagadya Linda Witney in Civil Suit No. 188 of 2024 before the High Court Land Division in Kampala, despite not being authorised to practise law in Uganda.

The prosecution further claims that during the same period, he knowingly misrepresented himself as a qualified advocate even though he was not recognised by law to offer legal services.

Nsubuga denied both charges when they were read to him in court.

The magistrate subsequently remanded him to Luzira Prison until 19 August 2026, when he is expected to return to court for further proceedings.

  • Ifeoma Okoye Refuses to Defend Herself Amid Mr. P’s Claims

Ifeoma Okoye Refuses to Defend Herself Amid Mr. P’s Claims

Ifeoma Okoye, the wife of music executive Jude Okoye, has finally addressed the controversy after singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, made fresh allegations that pulled her into the ongoing P-Square family dispute.

She shared a statement on her official Instagram page on Monday, just hours after Peter released another episode of his video series about his long-running fallout with his elder brother over the management and ownership of the former P-Square group’s assets.

In the latest episode, Mr. P claimed that Jude tried to transfer his ownership rights in one of P-Square’s properties to Ifeoma.

Peter said he rejected the move after he discovered documents bearing her name.

Although she did not mention Peter or Jude by name, Ifeoma acknowledged the reports circulating about her and made it clear that she would not defend herself in public.

I have no desire to defend myself before those who are committed to misunderstanding me. Truth does not need manipulation to prevail, and I trust God to vindicate what is right.

She also urged people not to mistake her silence for fear, saying she had chosen to trust God instead of engaging in public accusations or arguments.

Drawing from the biblical story of Ananias and Sapphira, Ifeoma said no one can deceive God.

She described Him as the righteous judge who exposes falsehood and upholds the truth at the right time.

The message ended with a prayer for mercy, healing and restoration, asking God to soften hardened hearts, repair broken relationships and guide everyone involved toward truth, humility and peace.

Her statement adds another chapter to the growing public fallout between Peter and Jude Okoye, as Mr. P continues to level allegations over the management and ownership of P-Square’s assets.
