Ariana Grande has reassured fans that her decision to step away from the spotlight has nothing to do with the recent wave of speculation surrounding her.
While speaking to concertgoers in Chicago, the pop star explained that she planned the break long ago and never intended it as a response to online discussions about her personal life or noticeably slimmer appearance.
Instead, she said the timing simply coincides with the end of her current tour.
Grande will begin her hiatus after wrapping up the Eternal Sunshine Tour on September 1.
She thanked fans for making the tour unforgettable and said their support has meant everything to her.
Although she looks forward to taking time for herself, Grande is still promoting her latest album, Petal, and plans to give fans her full attention until the tour comes to a close.
