Tycoon Sudhir contributes Shs100m to Muhoozi’s Run for Hope

Business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia took center stage at Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s “Run for Hope” event after committing Shs100 million and personally turning up to run alongside thousands of participants at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

The Sunday event, organised to mark Muhoozi’s 52nd birthday under the theme “Run for Charity, Run for Hope,” attracted a powerful mix of political leaders, business figures, and the public. But it was Sudhir’s visible involvement—both financially and physically—that stood out.

His Shs100 million boost, confirmed by Patriotic League of Uganda Secretary General David Kabanda, significantly elevated the profile of the charity run.

Kabanda praised Sudhir and other contributors for backing what organisers described as a cause aimed at improving healthcare support for vulnerable communities.

Unlike many high-level donors who stay behind the scenes, Sudhir showed up in running gear and joined the race, a move that quickly gained traction online and added energy to the event. His presence reinforced his image not just as a financier of causes, but as an active participant.

The run brought together several top figures, including Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa, who represented Muhoozi, alongside senior government officials and political actors. Mobilisation teams had also spent days rallying participation, particularly in Greater Masaka.

Organisers say funds raised will go toward addressing gaps in Uganda’s healthcare system, including support for children and underprivileged groups struggling to access treatment.
