Singer Bebe Cool has finally spoken out on the growing concerns from artists who performed at President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s campaign rallies earlier this year but are yet to receive payment.
The issue has recently gained traction, with artists such as Gravity Omutujju and Buchaman publicly demanding their dues through media appearances and social media platforms.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Bebe Cool acknowledged the delay, confirming that payments have not yet been made.
“There hasn’t been payment yet, that’s true,” he admitted, adding that he expects clarity soon after engaging with the relevant authorities. “I believe very soon we’ll have a clear answer for everyone.”
While addressing the frustration among creatives, Bebe Cool urged artists to remain patient, stressing that how they handle such situations could influence future opportunities.
“If someone gives you a chance to work, it’s important to show patience and discipline,” he said. “That way, next time they have a job, they won’t be worried about paying later.”
He also extended appreciation to both musicians and members of the media for maintaining pressure while remaining composed, noting that the process of securing such engagements is often complex.
The situation highlights ongoing concerns within Uganda’s entertainment industry about delayed payments, especially in politically linked events where multiple stakeholders are involved.
As artists await payment, attention now shifts to whether the anticipated meeting will deliver a resolution and restore confidence among performers who continue to rely on such high-profile gigs.
