Stand-up comedian and singer Reign Omusoyisoyi has revealed that he would never accept an opportunity to perform for Uganda’s Head of State, even if offered a lucrative payment.
Speaking during an interview, the outspoken entertainer said his decision is personal, stressing that he does not wish to be among those who entertain President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
According to Reign, he cannot perform for a leader he feels has never made him happy, adding that no amount of money would change his stance.
I’ve never had the opportunity to perform for President Museveni, but even if it came, I wouldn’t accept it. I don’t want to be among people who entertain the president. He has never made me happy, either.
The comedian further disclosed that one of the biggest performance offers he ever received was an invitation to perform at the birthday run organized in honor of Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Reign said he intentionally declined the gig, joking that he demanded one billion shillings as a condition for his appearance at the event held at Kololo Independence Grounds, a request he knew would not be accepted.
He added that the birthday celebrant himself did not attend the run, reinforcing his decision to stay away.
The comedian concluded by saying that both he and fellow entertainer Maulana remain firm on their principles when choosing the events they associate with, emphasizing that not every high-paying gig aligns with personal beliefs.
