In a cryptic message supposedly intended for Ykee Benda, former Mpaka Records singer Dre Cali has expressed zero interest in working with his former boss.
Via his TikTok, Dre Cali, who just graduated in Canada, shared a mirror selfie photo of himself smiling and added the caption:
As if I’m dying to work with you…some people never change man.
This comes a few days after Ykee Benda, who is applauded for nurturing Dre Cali’s talent when he was still in Uganda, appeared on an interview, ruling out a future music collaboration with the Onanagiza singer.
Speaking during an interview on the NOW Media Ug podcast, Ykee Benda said it would be “impossible” for Dre Cali to return and collaborate with him again after the manner in which he exited the label.
Dre Cali reportedly left Uganda for Canada in search of greener pastures while still under contract with Mpaka Records, a move that Ykee says left him angry and devastated.
Despite the disappointment, Ykee explained that he already forgave Dre Cali long ago, even before an apology was made.
I can forgive him because I forgave him even before he ever thought about asking for forgiveness but what differentiates a real man from an unserious one is how you handle things.
He added that professionalism and respect are important whenever artists part ways with management teams or labels.
