A few days after fans were left disappointed by the unexpected absence of South African performer Scotts Maphuma at the recently concluded Linus Tattoo Party, organisers and Linus Tats have finally broken their silence, revealing details surrounding the artist’s failure to perform.
In an official statement issued following the event held at Lugogo Millennium Grounds, Linus Tats said all contractual obligations tied to Scotts Maphuma’s appearance had been fulfilled ahead of the show, including agreed payment arrangements and performance logistics.
However, despite preparations being completed, the South African artist reportedly failed to appear on stage as scheduled, disrupting part of the anticipated entertainment line up and leaving many fans frustrated.
“As a brand built on delivering unforgettable experiences, we deeply regret the disappointment experienced by our audience on the night,” part of the statement read.
Linus Tats stressed that the failure by Scotts Maphuma to perform was beyond the organisers’ control, emphasizing that arrangements had been completed in good faith.
According to the organisers, efforts had been made to accommodate additional requests raised during the planning process to ensure the performance happened smoothly. These reportedly included adjustments to the artist’s performance fee as well as travel considerations involving business class arrangements for both the artist and members of his management team.
The organisers further claimed that even on the night of the event, additional financial requests were allegedly made and wired in a final effort to secure the artist’s appearance.
“Despite all arrangements being fulfilled on our side, including a total payment package that had been agreed and completed, the artist did not turn up for the show, did not communicate to fans, and did not offer any public explanation or apology,” the statement added.
Following the incident, Linus Tats confirmed that the matter is now being pursued through relevant authorities as organisers seek resolution over losses incurred, including possible recovery of funds and damages linked to the no show.
Despite the setback, the Linus Tattoo Party continued with performances from other acts, maintaining momentum throughout the night as attendees praised the event’s atmosphere and overall production.
The brand also thanked sponsors, partners, and fans for their continued support, adding that lessons learned from the incident will help strengthen planning and coordination for future editions.
