Kampala socialite Brian Kirumira, popularly known as Bryan White, has been further remanded to Luzira Prison by the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court over charges linked to the alleged human sacrifice of 25-year-old Caroline Nalubwama.
Bryan White appeared before Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera alongside his wife Naava Nakato, co-accused Daisy Nalunga, advocacy officer Daphine Abaho, and Joyce Irene Nambalirwa, the administrator of Mukyala Mabirizi Nursing Home. All the accused were remanded until May 21, 2026.
State Attorney Isaac Asasira informed court that investigations into the matter are still ongoing, prompting the magistrate to adjourn the case to May 21 for further mention.
Bryan White is facing several charges, including human sacrifice, manslaughter, rash and negligent acts causing death, and possession of marijuana. Under Ugandan law, human sacrifice attracts the death penalty upon conviction, while manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
Court heard that Bryan White is jointly charged with Nakato, Nalunga and Abaho with conspiracy to commit a felony and giving false information to police. Nambalirwa separately faces charges of manslaughter and rash and negligent acts causing death.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences were committed on October 22, 2025, in Kyamula Zone, Makindye Division in Kampala. Prosecutors claim Bryan White killed Nalubwama for purposes connected to witchcraft, ritual practices, or other unlawful acts.
The prosecution further alleges that between October 22 and October 27, 2025, Bryan White unlawfully caused Nalubwama’s death through burning while at Kiruddu Hospital in Makindye Division.
On the charge of rash and negligent acts, court heard that Bryan White allegedly handled combustible substances recklessly and failed to take precautions against likely danger arising from the materials in his possession.
He is also accused of possessing marijuana leaves and seeds reportedly stored in bottles and classified as narcotic drugs.
Prosecution alleges that Bryan White, Nakato, Nalunga and Abaho participated in a ritual act involving Nalubwama before her death. Court heard allegations that the accused lit candle wax in a room while massaging the deceased’s body using a mixture of petrol and ghee as they consumed honey.
The four are also accused of giving false information to Detective Bruce Tumwebaze and Inspector of Police Betty Monica Kyakuwaire at Mildmay Uganda Hospital, Katwe Police Station and Kampala Metropolitan South offices.
According to the State, the accused allegedly claimed Nalubwama sustained burns and was admitted to Kiruddu Hospital, yet investigators contend she had actually been burnt and admitted to Mabirizi Nursing Home.
Prosecution argues that the false information misled investigators during the early stages of the inquiry.
Meanwhile, Nambalirwa is accused of negligently failing to refer Nalubwama to a major hospital for specialised treatment, conduct the State says directly contributed to the victim’s death.
