Maro dreams of concert with Kyabazinga in attendance – Sqoop

For many musicians, a dream career is measured by sold-out arenas, international collaborations or chart-topping success. But for Ugandan singer Maro, the ultimate career milestone sounds far more personal and deeply rooted in culture.

The “Anjagala” hitmaker has revealed that before he ever considers stepping away from music, there is one thing he feels he must accomplish: performing for His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV in a concert attended by the monarch from start to finish.

Speaking during an appearance on KFM, Maro emotionally opened up about the long-held dream, describing it as the one achievement that would make him feel fulfilled enough to eventually retire from active music.

“If my fans get me to the Kyabazinga, I would love to say it would be enough for me to hand in the towel,” Maro said.

“I will not do a concert if I don’t first sing for the Kyabazinga because that chance comes once in a lifetime.”

For the singer, this is not about making a brief ceremonial appearance or performing a single song before royalty. Maro says he envisions something far more significant, a full concert attended by the Kyabazinga from beginning to end.

In an emotional appeal, the singer turned to his fans and supporters, urging them to help make the dream a reality by tagging the Kyabazinga on social media and rallying behind efforts to secure the royal performance.

To many observers, Maro’s wish feels less like celebrity ambition and more like an artist chasing a meaningful cultural milestone.

After years in Uganda’s music industry building a loyal fanbase and producing memorable hits, the singer appears to see this moment as something symbolic, a deeply personal honour that would represent recognition beyond commercial success.

For Maro, singing before the Kyabazinga is not simply another performance on a long list of career achievements.

It is the performance.

And perhaps, the perfect final chapter to a musical journey built on persistence, passion and connection with fans.
