Daddy Andre backs Ministry of Health’s concert suspension amid Ebola outbreak

Singer and producer Daddy Andre has voiced his support for the Ministry of Health’s decision to suspend concerts and unorganised public gatherings following the Ebola outbreak in Uganda.

Speaking about the matter, Andre said the government’s priority should be protecting the lives of Ugandans rather than allowing entertainment events to continue during such a health crisis.

I support the Ministry of Health because it’s there for the well being of the people because even for all this time that musicians have been holding concerts, they are still beggars anyways.

Andre added that despite organising concerts and other music events, many musicians and promoters still end up seeking financial support from the government, something he says makes it difficult for him to sympathise with complaints about the suspension.

Andre stressed that public safety should come first, especially at a time when the country is trying to prevent the spread of Ebola.

So I think it’s safe to suspend these shows and keep Ugandans from getting Ebola because these shows flop because they always complain so this is for the greater good.

The Ministry of Health recently announced stricter measures aimed at controlling the outbreak, including limiting large public gatherings that could accelerate the spread of the deadly virus.
