Singer Treka Man, real name Okiror John Moses, has opened up about the difficult moments he faced during the Covid-19 pandemic and how the situation pushed him to the edge.
The singer revealed that life became so hard during the lockdown that he resorted to doing odd jobs and hustling in ways he considered embarrassing compared to how people previously knew him.
However, he says well-wishers came to his rescue with support that helped him survive the tough period.
Treka Man explained that his struggles intensified after losing his job as a school chef when all schools across the country were closed to control the rapid spread of Covid-19.
“Covid-19 hit me so hard, and I started struggling through embarrassing means just to survive, but people came through for me and supported me.”
Speaking about hopes of reviving his music career, Treka Man noted that he currently needs management support to help fund and promote his music because the industry has become too expensive for him to handle alone.
“I need management because releasing music these days requires a lot of money, which I often don’t have.”
Beyond releasing music, Treka Man also recounted an emotional encounter with a stranger in Kireka who told him that his music once ruined his marriage before later helping to restore it because of the powerful messages carried in his songs.
“I once met a man in Kireka who told me, ‘You are the same person whose music ruined my marriage and later helped fix it again.’”
Treka Man shared while explaining the impact his music continues to have on people’s lives.
