Manager Kavuma reveals how ghetto kids really make money – Sqoop

Dauda Kavuma, manager of the famous Triplets Ghetto Kids, has opened up about how the dance group sustains itself financially, revealing that celebrity recognition does not always come with immediate financial rewards.

Over the years, the Ghetto Kids have caught the attention of several international stars, including French Montana, P. Diddy, and most recently, Colombian singer Shakira. Their viral dance content has helped position the Ugandan group among Africa’s most recognisable entertainment exports.

However, despite the excitement that often surrounds celebrity shout-outs and collaborations, Kavuma says the reality behind the scenes is very different from what many people assume.

According to him, YouTube remains the group’s strongest and most consistent source of income, generating monthly earnings that help support their operations.

Dauda explained that the group intentionally uses social media as a strategy to gain international visibility. He said they often target not only celebrities themselves but also people within their circles to improve the chances of their content being noticed.

He noted that once someone close to an artist notices the content, it increases the likelihood of it eventually reaching the celebrity directly.

Still, he was quick to point out that global recognition does not automatically translate into money.

While some opportunities may lead to financial gain, others mainly open doors through increased exposure, industry relationships, and a growing fanbase.

Speaking about their earlier work connected to French Montana’s Unforgettable, Kavuma revealed that although they did receive payment at the time, he later felt it was not as significant as expected. However, he said the experience later created additional opportunities that proved more rewarding.

He added that some details around those arrangements remain private due to agreements signed at the time, but acknowledged that later collaborations eventually led to projects that generated better financial returns, including work connected to WorldStar.

His remarks provide a rare glimpse into the business side of internet fame, showing that while viral moments and celebrity recognition can create buzz, long-term success often depends on building lasting opportunities from the attention received.
