The Ugandan music industry was thrown into mourning following the sudden death of veteran musician Master Parrot, real name David Sifaayo, who reportedly lost his life in a tragic road accident on Tuesday night.
According to reports, the singer was involved in a fatal accident along the Northern Bypass at around 9:00 PM while travelling from Makindye back to Kiwatule.
Witnesses at the scene said the accident claimed his life instantly, sending shockwaves through family, friends, and fellow creatives.
Following the incident, his body was transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where a postmortem examination was conducted.
The remains are expected to be handed over to funeral service providers before being taken to his residence for a vigil and viewing.
Thereafter, the body will be moved to the National Theatre, where fellow artists, fans, and members of the creative industry will gather to celebrate his life and contribution to Uganda’s entertainment sector.
Meanwhile, family members have dismissed circulating reports that the singer died in a boda-boda accident, clarifying that Master Parrot did not know how to ride a motorcycle.
He is expected to be laid to rest in Mpigi District along the Masaka Road. His relatives and loved ones remain devastated by the unexpected loss as they come to terms with the passing of a man many describe as a talented musician and respected creative.
He was a prominent dancehall and reggae artist, well-known for hits in the early 2000s like “Muliro”, “Maama Wa Baana”, “Nankya”, and “Ekikompola” among other hits.
Master Parrot is survived by four children, according to close friends and family members.
