Gaetano Kagwa has revealed why he deliberately limits the amount of time he spends on social media, especially TikTok, despite maintaining a presence on several digital platforms.
Speaking about his social media habits, Gaetano said he is cautious about becoming addicted to endless scrolling and consuming content for long periods, something he fears could negatively affect his productivity and focus.
According to him, while he has an account on TikTok, he intentionally avoids spending too much time on the platform because he does not want to fall into what he described as a “rabbit hole” of excessive screen time.
I’m on there but I fear TikTok because I don’t want to find myself going into that rabbit hole (of being addicted to screen time). I go there and put my stuff once in a while but I try not to indulge myself with too much.
The veteran radio host added that he is mindful of how social media algorithms work and prefers to keep his watch time as low as possible to avoid being drawn into endless content recommendations.
Gaetano noted that while he maintains accounts on various platforms, his primary purpose is to share content and remain relevant rather than spending hours consuming what others post.
“I use Facebook too, I just post and not look there. X I’m there too but I’m not on Snapchat,” he said.
Despite his reservations about social media, Gaetano acknowledged that digital platforms have become important tools for communication, visibility and income generation. As a result, he remains active online to avoid missing opportunities while still exercising discipline in how much time he spends on them.
