Media personality Gaetano Kagwa has expressed concern over the declining reading culture, saying many people today are more interested in quick digital content and clickbait headlines than taking time to read and understand information.
Speaking during a sit-down interview with Kasuku, Gaetano noted that traditional ways of consuming information are gradually fading as people increasingly prefer short videos and instant content.

People have stopped reading. People no longer read. Instead of choosing to be in a moment and enjoy it, read a book and what not.
According to him, many individuals would rather spend a few minutes watching content online than engage with books, articles, or other long-form material that requires concentration and deeper understanding.
Gaetano also referenced comments previously made by acclaimed actor Denzel Washington regarding the modern media landscape and society’s obsession with being first to share information.
He said, people want to be the first, not necessarily that they are the first with the right information, they just want to be the first. They want to break the news without doing the research, which is unfortunate but it’s the world we live in today.
Gaetano argued that the rush to publish information quickly has contributed to the spread of misinformation and sensational content, with many people prioritizing speed and attention over accuracy.
