Bad Character Records boss Sadat Mukiibi, popularly known as Khalifah AgaNaga, has taken a playful swipe at fellow singer Alexander Bagonza, alias A Pass, urging him to focus on Kadongo Kamu music instead of Jamaican dancehall.
According to Khalifah AgaNaga, A Pass is exceptionally gifted when it comes to Kadongo Kamu, going as far as claiming that even legendary musicians such as the late Herman Basudde would struggle to match his talent in the genre.
Speaking about their friendship, Khalifah revealed that he and A Pass are very close and that he often advises the singer whenever he feels he is straying musically.
He said that whenever A Pass goes through a period without a hit song, he reminds him to return to his Kadongo Kamu roots, a move he believes paid off with the success of A Pass’s trending song, “Buwooma.”
“A Pass is my buddy, and I always advise him whenever I see him going wrong. Even when he doesn’t have a hit song, I remind him that he’s a Kadongo Kamu artist and should sing in his style. That’s why when he returned to his style, he finally got a hit with ‘Buwooma.’ When he’s doing that kind of music, even the Basuddes can’t compete with him.”
He further argued that A Pass is less convincing whenever he ventures into Jamaican dancehall.
“When he sings these Jamaican songs, he blunders. He should just quit doing that kind of music.”
