Kyotera County Member of Parliament, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo, has been appointed Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The appointment was made under the powers vested in the President by Article 99(1) of the Constitution, following the absence of a substantive Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Shortly after the announcement, Hon. Kasolo expressed gratitude to the President for entrusting him with the new responsibility, pledging to serve the country with dedication and integrity.
I am profoundly honoured by the trust and confidence reposed in me by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni through my appointment as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs. I extend my sincere gratitude to His Excellency for this opportunity to serve our nation in this capacity. I remain committed to upholding Uganda’s foreign policy objectives, advancing our diplomatic engagements, and serving with integrity, professionalism, and unwavering dedication in the pursuit of our national interests.
Beyond his parliamentary duties, Hon. Kasolo also serves as the Vice Chairperson for the Central Region (representing Buganda) on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC), the party’s highest decision-making organ.
His appointment adds another significant responsibility to his growing political portfolio as he temporarily oversees Uganda’s foreign affairs docket.
