Veteran comedian and radio personality Amooti Omubalanguzi has dismissed reports that he was fired from Beat FM, clarifying that his departure from the station was a personal decision made after years of balancing multiple responsibilities.
Rumours had recently circulated on social media suggesting that the comedian had been relieved of his duties at the Kisementi-based station, where he had spent close to two decades behind the microphone. The claims sparked speculation among fans, with many questioning what had led to his exit.
However, speaking in a recent TV interview, Amooti insisted that there was no fallout with management and that he voluntarily stepped away from full-time radio work.
“People always want breaking news. But that’s not the case. I requested to take some rest since I’ve worked with them for a very long time,” he said.
According to the comedian, the decision was prompted by his desire to lighten his workload and create more time for other commitments, including his comedy career and projects under the Amarula Family banner.
“Sometimes people create stories that will sell, but the truth is that I requested to step down because I had worked there for a long time. I asked to resign. However, you will still be hearing my content,” he explained.
Amooti noted that after nearly 20 years on radio, he felt it was time to slow down and focus on personal and professional growth. He also revealed that juggling his radio responsibilities with other commitments had become increasingly demanding.
Despite reducing his involvement at the station, the veteran entertainer reassured fans that they would continue to enjoy his work.
“I will still be heard in comedy. I have only reduced my involvement in other things for a while, but I am still in comedy,” he said.
Over the years, Amooti has built a reputation as one of Uganda’s most beloved comedians and radio personalities, successfully balancing broadcasting with acting and comedy. His decision to step back from full-time radio marks the end of a significant chapter but not the end of his presence in the entertainment industry.
