Government forensic DNA tests have confirmed that only four of the 25 people who claimed to be children of the late Kadongo Kamu legend Paul Kafeero are his biological offspring.
The results, released on June 25, bring a major development in the long-running paternity dispute that has divided the singer’s family for nearly two decades.
According to the findings, Benedicto Kafeero, Simon Peter Kafeero, Thomas Swaz Kafeero, and Elizabeth Nagawa are the only claimants whose DNA matched that of the late musician.
The results follow a court-sanctioned forensic investigation that culminated in the exhumation of Paul Kafeero’s remains on June 1, 2026.
Investigators collected skeletal and tissue samples after experts ruled that blood samples preserved for years could no longer support reliable DNA testing.
The public release of the results marks the latest chapter in a dispute that began after Kafeero’s death in 2007, when disagreements over paternity and inheritance split members of his family.
The government supported the forensic exercise through the Directorate of Government Analytical Laboratory and the Uganda Police Force, with officials describing the process as an effort to bring a definitive scientific conclusion to the prolonged family dispute.
