Luswa Rejects Calls to Exhume Ssegirinya Again Over DNA Dispute – Nile Scoop

Calls to exhume the body of the late Muhammad Ssegirinya for another DNA test have sparked fresh disagreement within the former Kawempe North MP’s family.

Speaking on the matter, Ugandan politician and former Ssegirinya personal assistant Muhammad Luswa Luwemba firmly opposed the proposal, insisting the late legislator should be allowed to rest in peace.

We cannot accept to unbury him because this will be the second time. Let Ssegirinya rest in peace.

According to Luswa, the late legislator’s body had already been exhumed once after his initial burial was found to have been improperly conducted, with his remains reportedly laid to rest facing the wrong direction amid the confusion surrounding the funeral.

The renewed calls for another exhumation stem from concerns raised by one of Ssegirinya’s widows, Akandida, who reportedly questioned the credibility of the DNA exercise conducted under government supervision.

According to Luswa, Akandida believes the process may have been compromised and wants a fresh DNA test carried out after her child was not confirmed as one of Ssegirinya’s biological children.

The disagreement comes as the late MP’s family continues to wrestle with disputes over his estate and the DNA findings.

A family meeting that had been scheduled by the Resident City Commissioner to discuss the matter was postponed and is now expected to take place on Friday.
