Mimi Kampala Says She Discovered Her Singing Talent by Chance – Nile Scoop

Rising singer Mimi Kampala has revealed that she never planned to become a musician, saying she only discovered she could sing after a friend convinced her to step into a recording studio.

Speaking on Music Taxi with Mark Mukunja, Mimi admitted she was never confident she had a voice worth pursuing.

For me to find out that I knew how to sing was a little bit difficult.

Although music had always been part of her family, Mimi said none of her relatives pursued it professionally.

My mother tried singing, and my uncle also tried singing, but they never went through with the career and shifted to something else.

The turning point came when her friend, Ezra Lweeza, encouraged her to give music a chance.

Mimi said he took her to a studio, where she recorded her first song in 2023.

There is a friend of mine called Ezra Lweeza who encouraged me to try it out, so he took me to the studio and we tried recording.

Even then, she did not immediately pursue a career in music.

After trying this, around 2023, I did not try singing again or even try releasing a song. But then in 2024, that is when I decided to try singing as a career, and ever since then, here I am.

Looking back, Mimi says what began as a simple experiment eventually became the career she is pursuing today.
