Burna Boy has reached another career milestone after becoming the African artist with the highest number of monthly listeners in Spotify history.
The Grammy-winning star recently surpassed the previous record of 46.58 million monthly listeners set by Tyla.
Burna Boy first hit 46.84 million monthly listeners before extending the figure to 47.3 million.
The achievement puts the “African Giant” hitmaker on track to become the first African artist to reach 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
His World Cup collaboration with Shakira, “Dai Dai,” has driven much of the recent growth in streams.
The song also climbed to the top of Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart, making Burna Boy the first African artist to achieve the feat since Wizkid topped the chart through his collaboration with Drake on “One Dance” in 2016.
The latest record adds another major achievement to Burna Boy’s growing global success.
