Shakib Cham Lutaaya may have returned home with an impressive victory, but he says one thing left him disappointed: the silence from Ugandans before he stepped into the ring.
The businessman and reality tv star defeated Kenyan musician Arrow Bwoy by technical knockout (TKO) in the second round of their celebrity boxing match during the Vurugu 2 event hosted by Oga Obinna at the Sarit Expo Centre in Westlands, Nairobi, on June 20, 2026.
Instead of celebrating only after the final bell, Shakib believes Ugandans should have rallied behind him before the fight as he represented the country on foreign soil.
Speaking during an interview on Next Transit, Shakib said the support only came after victory was already in the bag.
Ugandans only posted me after I had won. Before the fight, no one was supporting me.
Despite his disappointment, the victory marked another major step in Shakib’s boxing journey and extended the comeback he has built since suffering his only defeat in the ring last year.
The businessman said the win has only strengthened his determination to keep competing, expressing hope that Ugandans will stand behind him before, and not just after, his next fight.
