While many people continue to rely on the June 25 DNA results to understand Paul Job Kafeero‘s family, veteran Kadongo Kamu singer Mamuli Katumba believes some of the biggest answers never made it into any official record.
Katumba says the late musician preferred to confide in the people closest to him, trusting conversations over written records whenever the subject turned to his biological children.
Kafeero did not write anything about his biological children, but he used to tell the people around him. Each of his close friends knows one or two of his secrets, including me.
For Katumba, those conversations explain why he remains unconvinced that the public knows the full story surrounding family Kafeero’s family.
He insists the late singer openly discussed some of his children and personal relationships with trusted friends, leaving pieces of his family history in the hands of people who knew him best rather than on paper.
Katumba’s account on Sanyuka Uncut offers a different lens through which to view the continuing debate over Kafeero’s family, although the claims he made about the late musician’s private life have not been independently verified.
