Not every comedian on Saturday’s lineup will play the same role.
Events promoter Abtex has reserved special recognition for veteran comedian Amooti Omubalanguzi, revealing that the comedy icon will perform twice and close the July 4 Comedy Festival at the UMA Show Grounds.
The decision reflects his belief that few entertainers have shaped Uganda’s comedy industry the way Amooti has over the years.

Amooti is the father of comedy, and he will be treated differently. He will perform twice and will also close the show because of his contribution to the comedy industry.
For Abitex, giving Amooti the final performance is more than a scheduling decision. It is his way of honouring a comedian he credits with helping build the country’s comedy scene.
The July 4 Comedy Festival will bring together some of Uganda’s leading comedians and entertainers for what Abtex has billed as the country’s first-ever comedy festival.
