Beyoncé has surprised fans with the release of “Morning Dew (Donk),” her first new song in two years, as she kicks off celebrations for the 20th anniversary of her acclaimed 2006 album, B’Day.
The singer released the track on July 4, marking the start of a 60-day countdown to the anniversary edition of B’Day, which is scheduled for release on September 4. The song will appear on the upcoming reissue of the album.
“Morning Dew (Donk)” was written by Beyoncé alongside Pharrell Williams, The-Dream and Darius Dixon, while Beyoncé and Pharrell handled production. The release is accompanied by a black-and-white lyric video created from archival footage shot by photographer Cliff Watts.
Although fans have known the song as “Donk” since it leaked online several years ago, Beyoncé had never officially released it.
According to official release materials, the song serves as “a direct nod to her loyal BeyHive” as she prepares to celebrate the landmark anniversary of B’Day.
The release also marks Beyoncé’s first new music since her Grammy-winning album Cowboy Carter in 2024.
Fans have welcomed the surprise release across social media, with many hoping the anniversary edition will include more previously unreleased material.
