Jay-Z gave fans a memorable finish to his three-night Yankee Stadium concert series by bringing out Rihanna for a surprise performance during the final night of his “Extra Innings” residency.
The Barbadian superstar made a rare return to the stage, sending the crowd into a frenzy as she performed her hit “Bitch Better Have My Money” before teaming up with Jay-Z for their Grammy-winning collaboration, “Run This Town.”
Videos of the performance quickly spread across social media as fans celebrated the long-awaited reunion.
The appearance marked one of Rihanna’s rare live performances in recent years. While she has made occasional appearances, including the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, she has largely stepped away from regular live performances as fans continue to await her long-promised ninth studio album.
Jay-Z’s “Extra Innings” residency celebrated the anniversaries of two landmark albums, Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint.
The three-night run featured a series of surprise guests, including Beyoncé, Usher, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, Nas, Alicia Keys and Blue Ivy Carter.
The final show started several hours behind schedule after a security breach outside Yankee Stadium forced organizers to delay the concert while authorities worked to ensure the venue was safe.
Once the show got underway, Jay-Z apologized to fans for the delay before delivering a performance packed with surprise appearances.
Rihanna’s appearance was one of the night’s biggest highlights and reunited the longtime collaborators more than 15 years after the release of “Run This Town,” the 2009 hit that won two Grammy Awards.
