For more than a decade, Judith Babirye‘s biggest performances have happened away from Uganda. That chapter is about to change.
The celebrated gospel singer has confirmed that she will return home in 2027 to mark 20 years in music with a major anniversary concert, giving Ugandan fans something they have waited years to witness.
Few gospel artists have left a mark on Uganda’s music industry quite like Judith. Songs such as “Beera Nange,” “Wambatira,” “Omusaayi Gwa Yesu,” “Maama,” “Wanonda,” “Yesu Asobola,” and “Ekitibwa Kyo Mukama” have remained fixtures in churches, fellowships, and Christian gatherings across the country.
Her move to Canada saw her continue her ministry through music and church leadership, but it also meant stepping away from Uganda’s biggest concert stages. Apart from occasional visits, fans have not had the opportunity to experience a major Judith Babirye concert for years.
Her upcoming anniversary celebration promises to change that.
The gospel music industry she returns to looks very different from the one she left behind. Concert production has grown, audiences have expanded and artists such as Ngoma Joseph, Levixone and Exodus have shown that gospel concerts can attract massive crowds.
That makes Judith’s return more than another concert announcement. It brings together one of Uganda’s most celebrated gospel voices and an industry that has grown significantly during her absence.
As plans for the concert gather momentum, many fans will be watching to see how one of Uganda’s most influential gospel artists marks two decades of ministry through music.
