Burna Boy has reached another career milestone after topping the Apple Music Global Top 100 chart with “Dai Dai,” his collaboration with Colombian superstar Shakira.
The achievement makes the Grammy-winning singer only the second Nigerian artist to reach No. 1 on the global chart.
Tems became the first in 2022 through her appearance on Future’s hit song “Wait for U,” which also featured Drake.
“Dai Dai” climbed to the top shortly after Burna Boy and Shakira delivered a headline-grabbing performance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show. The performance gave the song a major boost on streaming platforms, helping it claim the top spot on Apple Music’s worldwide chart.
The latest milestone adds to Burna Boy’s growing list of international achievements as he continues to expand Afrobeats‘ global reach.
The Nigerian star also holds the record as Africa’s best-selling artist, with more than 14 million equivalent album units, according to music analytics platform Chartmasters.
Burna Boy has also built a reputation as Africa’s biggest touring artist, regularly selling out arenas and stadiums across Europe, North America and other parts of the world.
His latest chart-topping success further cements his place among Africa’s biggest global music stars.
