Ryan Gosling is officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios announced at its Hall H presentation during San Diego Comic-Con that the Oscar-nominated actor will play Ghost Rider, ending months of speculation about his superhero future.
The surprise reveal drew huge cheers from fans as Marvel confirmed one of the convention’s biggest casting announcements.
Ghost Rider ranks among Marvel’s most popular antiheroes. The supernatural character, known for his flaming skull and motorcycle, previously appeared on the big screen in films starring Nicolas Cage. Gosling will now bring a new version of the character into the MCU.
Marvel did not reveal which upcoming film will introduce Ghost Rider or share details about the character’s storyline. The studio said more information will come later.
The announcement came during a packed Comic-Con presentation that also introduced David Jonsson as the new Black Panther and unveiled several upcoming Marvel projects.
Fans have long hoped to see Gosling join the MCU, and Marvel has now made it official.
