Mahershala Ali Calls Out Marvel Over Failed ‘Blade’ Reboot

Mahershala Ali has broken his silence on Marvel‘s troubled Blade reboot, saying the studio had every opportunity to complete the film but failed to make it happen.

The two-time Oscar winner, who signed on to play the iconic vampire hunter in 2019, reflected on the project’s long and difficult development during a recent interview.

After years of delays, script rewrites and director changes, Ali believes the outcome could have been very different.

According to the actor, Marvel had the resources to bring the film to life but never fully committed to doing so.

If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it. You had me under contract, they have billions of dollars. If they wanted to do the movie, we would’ve done the movie.

Ali also confirmed that he has moved on from the reboot and no longer expects to play Blade.

Instead, he says he wants to focus on original projects after spending years attached to a film that never reached production.

Marvel first announced the Blade reboot at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, but the project ran into repeated setbacks, including multiple writer changes, director departures and several release-date delays.

The studio has since removed the film from its release schedule, leaving the future of the franchise uncertain.
